By Audrey van Petegem, Chief Editor

It was in 2007 when The Succulent Wives came to be a blog. Looking back we are amazed on the plethora of topics that we have written about over the years. Some were poignant, some funny and many we had completely forgotten about. As our blog has grown, so has our readership and because of that, we want to share the ones that, to this day, are still…

Who needs a therapist? It's amazing what a little retail therapy can do to soothe the soul!

So, it's one of those rainy days in sunny San Diego.  I'm holed up in the house with two little girls and bored out of my mind.  What do I do?  Well while my two daughters partake in a PBS-feast, I log on to the Internet and start checking out some "sales."  Dangerous?  Yup.  Especially when you can find some great deals, i.e., no added costs (taxes) and free shipping.  But what else?  How about finding even more… Continue

Proud of Me

It is a beautiful, almost fall feeling, country day. The sun is out, the breeze is gentle and the humidity on hiatus. I open my back door, my windows, my front door and let my stale and brutalized by the summer house breath deeply.

The smell of fresh cut lawns permeate the air, the dew on the grass glistens in the morning sun. I hear chainsaws, busy trimming trees, and remind myself that I need to call our tree people. Maybe tomorrow, today is too nice for… Continue

More Milestones

The best thing I’ve ever done with my life is to be a wife and mother to our two boys. All the pretty pictures pass through my mind…the breastfeeding, crawling, walking, first day of school…. Then BOOM! Our oldest is walking up to the podium to give his valedictorian speech. AND BAM! Our youngest is “graduating” from 8th grade.

"Athletic" (oldest) wanted to move out right after graduation. Lucky for me he is only 17 so I told him I would not allow him to leave until he was… Continue

Recipe for a Nourishing Bath

For the times when it seems the world has gone astray, or just after a tough day, a bath is a wonderful nourishing space to retreat.
When my shower head broke this winter, I was forced to take baths daily for a bit. This "problem" ended up being a wonderful blessing in disguise.…

29 MEANS

Well, guess what, I woke up early as in 3:35 am sobrang aga! I don't know what woke me up...I was thinking it was because I forgot to drink milk that I prepared which was at my side table. Then I got Wentworth from his yaya and placed him beside me to hug, kiss, and smell him. Still, after an hour I am still awake so I thought of blogging and then out of nowhere, I came to realized that this is my last year of being in the 20's and next year I'm turning 30! I can't explain how I feel being 30,… Continue
