If I could only eat one meal a day, it would be breakfast. I love, love breakfast. I love breakfast so much that when I am feeling too lazy to cook dinner, I'll whip up a poached egg and turkey bacon sandwich or (my very favorite) banana pancakes. When the Aunt…

Lately, I have two types of days. A good day, and a miserable day. Today was a good day. I took a leave of absence from work to deal with what's going on in my life. Good for me and my kids, terrible for my wallet. But my routine became to wake up, take kids to school, come back home, crawl into bed and just lay there. Sometimes I would sleep away the day, escaping the misery I was feeling, other days I would just lay there…Continue

When you have a baby, the needs evolve as quickly as they grow. Before you know it, they’re in the next stage of development, learning and messiness. So what do you give your fave baby bundle as they mature? Citrus Lane is one interesting idea.Think of it like a wine of the month club – but for baby… Continue

I can empathize with new parents when they talk about the seemingly-impossible task of finding great schooling that doesn’t break the bank. Sending your preschooler off is hard enough emotionally, and becomes even more challenging when factor in your requirements: you want it to be a stimulating, educational, and reliable start and a comfortable place for your kids to be while you are at work.…Continue

When was the last time you failed? I don't mean a little mistake. When was the last time you experienced a bona-fide, gut-wrenching, FUBAR failure? I used to be afraid to fail. I think I spent much of my twenties and my early thirties trying hard not to fail. Back then, I had serious perfectionist tendencies and worked hard not to make a mistake. I look back at how naive I was then.…Continue

Many of you have started asking me what makeup looks you should wear for spring.
As I told you last spring, I am a huge fan of natural-looking self–tanner and bronzer. There is nothing better then keeping a healthy glow without having to damage your skin by baking in the sun, although I know some of you will go in the sun away!

"What color are you?" Huh? "What. Color. Are. You.?" Me? I'm shopping at Pier 1 Imports in the home fragrance aisle and see a young, blonde girl about six years old looking up at me. "What color are you? Are you brown?" I'm wondering how to answer this question. Should I pretend I didn't hear her? Do I answer? She's so cute and it's an innocent question. I go for it. "Well,…Continue

Girls Night Out. At my age, it doesn't mean squeezing into tight dresses and hitting the clubs. Really, it means plain and simple - just the girls, and the night involves talking, eating and drinking. Last night, we had an evening planned at a new restaurant downtown, just my 6 oldest and bestest girlfriends. We had been planning it for almost 2 months. Unfortunately the day of, 2 of our girlfriends had to back out. I was bummed, but 4 of us still planned to meet at a restaurant we all love…Continue

As a mom of two-within-two-years, I’ve had many learning opportunities to refine my coping skills. While this category of behavior includes healthy activities like working out or meditation, I tend to defer to other ones such as wine, junk food, and mindless television. The truth of the matter is that I have…Continue
