Play dates, as we all know, are a way of life. The lucky mom is the one with their kid at someone else’s house. Ah - it’s a few more hours of precious freedom and you don’t have to play after school snack bingo.
Mother: “What do you want for a snack?”…

I have been a full time stay at home mom. I have been a full time working mom. Although I felt fulfilled doing each (tired too), I also always felt judged by the women standing on that thick green grass Continue
When I was a full time stay at home mom it
felt as though there were working moms everywhere I went. They
made me feel less of a woman because I was at home all day. I must…

Mother's Day is poignant for most of us. We all had a mom and we are moms. Hopefully, our moms were good moms
though I do know from drying the tears of many women that not every woman had the mother she needed. And for that, my mothers, I'm sorry, because it’s a pain that stays a long time.
My mother was a good mother but she made mistakes. As a bossy first born I was quick to point them out whenever the mood fit me.…

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed lately and it's my own doing. I have become one of those over-scheduled moms who tries to do it all plus some...we have an activity for almost every day of the week, belong to a local mom's social group, play groups, I do laundry twice a week, keep a fairly clean house, and have this blog.
Now I have a job interview tomorrow. Yes a job interview
. I have been considering going back to work for some time now and sending resumes but with this… Continue

In our newly released WhyMomsRule.com poll, 80% of Moms will make some type of sacrifice to ensure their families have a vacation this year. Cost is still the primary concern for Moms, with their view of the economy tempering how they spend the household budget. However, Moms… Continue

I try to keep up with the postings here, but I don't get the chance to post a lot (kids, homeschool, ACTs, etc). I wanted to invite you all to my latest series of postings on my other blog at http://myvidamocha.com
. This set of postings is called "The Truth Series." It's all about things we may not want to hear but are definitely the truth - things that if we take to heart, can change us or someone we know. Please stop by and take a look. Thanks and keep up the… Continue

I love to entertain. There's something about creating an atmosphere where people feel comfortable, enjoy good food and good conversation, and can relax that really gets me. Playing hostess is fun, and being a good (nee exceptional) and attentive hostess is important to me. I thought that if I was ever give the opportunity to have my dream business, it would be in party planning. Well, after the stress of this week, now I'm not so sure.
When Maria Bailey of BSM Media asked me to be… Continue

When my children were little I started a craft business called Creative Crafts. I taught arts and crafts classes to children ages 4-11. Each 6 week session we explored many craft techniques including: making collages, black and white, color studies, faux painting,book making, we even baked and created"food art". I then hired other moms to teach sewing classes and sketching classes for the older children.
During the summer my mom and I held a music and art camp and incorporated… Continue

I never really thought of being over 40 as an issue.
I've just been doing my thing for the past 20 years and haven't really noticed anything was different.
After college I married and had my career. Then came the kid thing. I gave up my career to be at home with my kids. Yes, I found small part time jobs and other methods of making money. Being home when my kids were home was my personal priority and something I've never regretted, even though I don't have the nicest car or… Continue

* Both groups think about sex every minute of the day.
What Men between the ages of 18-35 and Empty Nest Moms Do NOT have in Common:
* Men gladly admit they think about sex this often but most empty nest moms will not;
* Men accept this phenomenon while the women make an appointment with their doctor or psychologist to see what's wrong;
* Depending on their individual situation (married, single, in a… Continue

Yesterday was great! I received a nice email from a very happy member/customer.
She's is probably http://www.mykidsregistry.com/ biggest fan. Her daughter's birthday is coming up and she used used our einvite function to invite party guests, she created a wish list and ordered her party supplies through http://www.birthdayinabox.com/. She saved a tree and saved gas & time by ordering party supplies. Sharing her daughters wishes through a wish list was just an added… Continue

No...I obviously don't. I think my bed is in a tiny room upstairs. It was last seen at 7:00 a.m. this morning, wearing a king size comforter, sage green, and my beloved remote controls lay on top and oh yes..the clean laundry from yesterday still in need of a home all lay on top of the bed!
BTW, have I discussed with you my poor relationship with laundry? We don't get along. We've had this on going battle for a few years. I think it heightened when the kids arrived. I've actually… Continue

I started training again, marathon training that is. It was a tough decision. I was getting used to having more time at home to chill out after ten days skipped. But I ran the other day
, and then again today. Beat the heat and got my butt out there before sun-up.
And then, second day back, I saw tracks. Uh, huh. Tracks. Not little bunny rabbit tracks. No, the maker of these tracks would have had that little bunny rabbit as a… Continue

My daughter was due in mid February. She was born two months early. My intelligent mind tells me it wasn’t my fault – I did nothing to make this happen and today, she is healthy and strong. My intelligent mind can reason. My emotional heart can’t forgive. I know it isn’t rational but there it is.
I was not able to protect her when she needed it most. So perhaps I may overindulge a bit now in my tendency to control her environment. (I’m sorry but those grapes really, really DO need to… Continue
