After a few months of suffering from chronic writer's blog, I was desperate for a little inspiration. I was so busy editing everybody else's work that I could no longer make time for my own projects, and when I did steal a few minutes for myself, nothing…

I am not the biggest fan of New Year’s resolutions. Honestly, I am not sure I have ever made a New Year’s resolution that I have honored, but this year, I have decided to reflect honestly on the things I can do to be a better person and a better mom.
Be more patient. As a …Continue

Hi! My name is Amina and I sometimes find it hard to believe that I live in New Orleans, otherwise known as “NOLA”–home to never-ending Mardi Gras parades, extra powdery beignets, Po Boy shrimp sandwiches, and streets so riddled with potholes you would think you were in a third world country.
As a mother of three, I wear many hats: full-time driver, cook,…Continue

When I found out my first child was a boy, the response from everyone was, “Uh oh! You are gonna be busy. Boys are active.” I thought to myself, “Good. It will probably help me to lose some of this baby weight I’ve gained.” It wasn’t until around the time Joshua turned one that I could really see what everyone was talking about.
One Saturday, it was just Joshua and…Continue

The making of New Year’s “resolutions” has been a time old tradition for many. Most families start doing it when children are young and then when they grow up and have kids of their own they too do their resolutions. I cannot be the only one…who is very excited to put this past week behind them. It has felt like nothing but holidays, holidays, holidays the past couple of weeks, and as lovely as it has been I am ready for the good old hum-drum of the work week.
We rang in the New Year and hit the sheets about fifteen minutes after the ball dropped in Times Square on the eve of 2014, but the Hubs and I still felt exhausted (and just a tad hung over)…
I originally posted this a few years ago, but it's definitely one that I like to pull out of the vault again at holiday time. Cause it's about liquor. And who DOESN'T need a cup of cheerful something or other at this time of the year??!!
You know it's gonna be a good day when you're strolling through the wine aisle at the grocery store on a random…Continue

Thought provoking reflections on life.
This story begins in Arkansas with the nine-year-old Michael, and his younger brother, abandoned by their father, living with their strict grandmother who regularly beats them. The family attend church regularly, he discovers at a young age, he has a gift for playing the organ and it is the beginning of a lifelong love of music.
The Book of Thoth is volume II in Paul Leone’s Vatican Vampire Hunters series. Unlike the first book, which takes place in London, this one takes place in New York City, where not only criminals and the Russian mafia but also demon vampires roam the streets, preying on the innocent.
One night, beautiful Manhattan socialite Nicole Van…Continue
