One night, beautiful Manhattan socialite Nicole Van…

Room of Tears is a spiritual story about heroes, miracles, and faith. It’s also a story about love, death, and tragedy.

In the summer of 2041, 71-year-old Diane O’Connor invites Friar Antonio Ortiz to her home in Queens. The reason is nothing short of mysterious: she has a request for him, which entails giving him a letter and a recording…

Every New Year, thousands of people (if not more) make the resolution to get fit.  They sign up for gym memberships, buy workout DVD’s, and order the latest and greatest gadget from a slick infomercial on TV.  And usually about this time of year, several weeks in, a large majority of these same people let the…

Book Review: Crazy Quilt by Paula Paul

The last time I’d cried because of a book was years ago and the culprit was Marley and MeCrazy Quilt is such a different book yet so alike in many ways. Both deal with death and loss, both are incredibly moving stories, and both remind us how short and precious life is.

The story begins when our protagonist, Flora Adams, decides to visit…

A Dollar in a Card

Just celebrated my birthday...yes 29 again. I received quite a few cards this year. I got the biggest kick when I opened two that each held a dollar. The memories it brought back...

While my dad was in the hospital, years ago now. One of the many cards that arrived had a dollar in it. As he lay there looking at all the cards he told my mother , if each one had had a dollar in it they could have gone out to dinner. A very special aunt of mine started the tradition...now I try to put a… Continue

Jumping In At The Deep End.

Basically I am still very new to this mom thing. I fell in love with my boyfriend almost a year and a half ago, and I fell madly head over heals in love with his daughter. So I jumped in at the deep end. This consequently is the best, and most difficult thing I have ever done. I left my home country for the very different life of Johannesburg. The move in itself faced me with a lot of challenges, some of which, a lot of which I am still adapting to.

In the UK, we sleep with our… Continue

A Day In NYC

We took the kids to NYC yesterday. We've never been as a family because the idea of taking three small children to the city drew strikingly similar fears to being covered in honey and laid over an ant hill.

But they're old enough now that we don't have to haul around strollers and diaper bags and 400 pounds of assorted travel necessities and since we had a free Saturday and we only live a short train ride away from the…

My Year In Review

I have baby B in my moby wrap and a moment to actually blog right now. The toddler is sleeping and for some reason was excited to go upstairs and take a snooze. No bribery or anything. Weird. So I have had some blog posts lined up in my head that I've wanted to write, but the business portion of my blog has taken a front burner position while I try to make a little extra money since I'm not watching kids anymore. I'm not…
