I am thankful for my Bajan heritage
My family on my Mum’s side hails from Barbados. Such fun, laid back, welcoming island folk! Love returning to the island and partaking of all the warmth its people and culture offer. Tonight as I have my curry packed up and ready to go, I’m thankful that my roots hail from such a beautiful, enchanting space in the World!

I’m about to spend the rest of the day cooking up a storm. Tomorrow night we are attending a Chili, Curry and Bunco Contest. As my hubby is the curry judge I need to make sure that I have my recipe finished and well hidden before he gets home tonight. This is serious stuff! They’ll even make sure to put it in a different container so he for sure doesn’t know it’s mine! I’ll make sure to post the recipe after the contest, but until then, thought I’d share my tips for making…

I am thankful for chivalry
My neck is still out-of-place, along with a rib. I sleep uncomfortably, and when I looked in the mirror, my right shoulder is actually a good couple of inches lower than my left. As soon as I got…

Many, many thanks to Tat at Mum in Search for giving me the Liebster Blog Award! What do you mean you haven’t heard of it before? Well, let me tell you a little bit about it.
Liebster is German for Darling, Sweetheart, etc. Wait a minute! – THAT’S WHAT POPPET MEANS TOO!!!!!! What’s truly awesome about this award, is that it is given by my peer. Someone in the blogging community who thinks I have something to offer. And coming from Tat…Continue

I pull out my beloved camera to take a pic of Poppet for a future post on teaching a toddler how to clean up. I turn it on, point it at Poppet and look at the screen. What!?!? My screen is smashed! I have no idea how that happened. Sure, it’s getting up there in age as far as digital cameras go, but how did it come to this? For a Mom Blogger, being…

…and no, it’s not because of my weight! That title alone proves that grammar is important, because one part of the phrase has absolutely nothing to do with the other.
I woke up this morning and can’t move my neck. Tried stepping on the scale, but…

I am thankful for last minute chiropractic appointments
I can’t move my neck. Truly a problem in a house with a toddler! I woke up sometime in the night with the inability to get comfortable and in agony when I had to turn on my right side to nurse. Wonder if it had anything to do with the out-of-place rib I got my hubby to self adjust for me before I went to bed last night. (If you now my chiropractor, just don’t tell him!). Whatever the reason…
You see that little number beside the word “Inbox” there? That 800? That is NOT the number of e-mails in my inbox. Nope. That is the number of UNREAD e-mails in my inbox! There are actually 2,137 e-mails in my inbox!
I find when life gets chaotic, like after having Poppet, or after my brother in law died, the first place clutter shows up is in my…
On our return from Sudbury this week-end, we stoppped in at Grandma’s in Toronto. As hubby had Monday off and we planned on heading to the zoo, it was the perfect place to bed down for a couple of nights.
We arrived, unpacked, and opened the fridge (pretty much in that order). It was BARE! Not a thing but a hunk of cheese and a bit of cream. Thankfully we had stopped for souvlaki take out and had dinner in the bag. Consoled ourselves with the keurig k-cups instead…

This morning we are using our Toronto City Pass to head to the zoo! We’ve been waiting to do this for a long time, and we are excited!!!! Now that Poppet is walking, it brings back memories of going to theme parks, or even just a day at the mall. Often I would get caught up in looking at something.…

I am thankful for the Toronto City Pass
Papa has the day off after a busy week-end, and we stayed in Toronto at my Mum’s last night so we could go to one of the awesome sites Toronto has to offer visitors! If you haven’t heard of it before, you should check it out. Even if you live in the Toronto area as we do, it is a great idea for any family staycation!

This is a perfect late night meal or lunch. It is super fast to throw together, and is not extra heavy on the tummy.
What you’ll need:
3 cans tuna, packed in water
juice of 1/2 a lime
1/3 cup mayonnaise
2 Tablespoons grainy Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 small carrot, grated

I am thankful for coffee
I used to own a tea company, and hated coffee. Enter Poppet. These days, tea is what I use to go to bed with, and coffee, the stronger the better, helps me on mornings like this when Poppet has been up almost ALL night nursing and tossing and turning! Should’ve known better than to go to bed at 12:30am. Ugh!

This morning, while we were entering our hotel room after breakfast, Poppet stood up, and SHE WALKED!!!! It was the most beautiful sight, and she is so very proud of herself. Although I know that life will be busier than ever,
I am thankful for first steps

We travel….a LOT. But if you are a regular reader of Pardon My Poppet you already know this. I find it chaotic to try to pack for a Toddler as well as myself. Often I wake up in the middle of the night the day before we leave in a panic. ”I forgot to pack the diapers!” or some other such necessity. Yesterday, Poppet only slept for 40 minutes. This did not leave a lot of “me” time in the day, let alone wrapping my mind around packing for our trip to Sudbury in the…
