Why Are You Supposed to Sleep on Your Left Side During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time full of lifestyle changes and new adjustments. From the expected (no more smoking!) to the bizarre (no more hot dogs?), it can be hard to filter out the good advice from the bad. One tip you may have heard from friends, family, or your healthcare provider is that you should only sleep on your left side, but just how important is it to follow that advice, and what are the risks if you don't? Ultimately, it is good advice to sleep on your left side if you're able, but if…

Kids are asleep.. And Im being lazy

It seems crazy to me that I always say... I wish my boys would go to sleep so I can clean in peace.. Yet once they are asleep.. I am lazy and want to sit and catch up on Tv. I cant help that I enjoy peace and quiet and no kid cartoons for an hour. Oh what a mom to do?? Especially considering I have work all weekend so I have to find the drive to clean and prepare my kids for the weekend. Working mom jobs are never done! I will rest when Im 90 and my kids are taking care of me!

That time I forgot I had a baby. Okay, ONE of the times I forgot I had a baby.

Towards the end of my second pregnancy, I began searching for a cute diaper bag, preferably one which cost less than my car payment and would dress-up my maternity-jeans and stained tee-shirt postpartum uniform. Also, if I could find a bag with wide enough straps to cover-up one of my leaking breasts, well then, all the better!

“What...you’ve never seen a nursing woman leak through her shirt? Stop your… Continue

Disgruntled Employee

I figure the level of hierarchy in this house is something like this.

My Husband - he is supporting the house after all. Me - obviously. The children and then the dogs.

In an ideal world, it would be like this every day.

Unfortunately, when the children get sick, the hierarchy is altered somewhat and I become their employee... or bitch, if you will! It has to be done. They are sick. Feverish with nasty coughs and all that goes with it.

As an employee,… Continue

Zip Up and Sack Out: Sleep Is In The Bag

Sleep sacks and sleeping bags are sending traditional swaddles packing, and for good reason. While nothing says snug like a tightly-executed baby burrito, those mummy wraps can be quick to unravel once baby starts rolling about.

Thanks to some very bright folks at HALO ("The Original Sleep Sack"), parents can stop losing sleep over loose sheets, instead zipping their little ones…

No mom, not interested in sleep, let's play

Jonathan has been completely uninterested in sleep this week.

Too bad that is not the case for me.

I am sleep deprived. Apparently playing and making messes are more important to an 18-month old than drifting off into a pleasant sleep.

What? You already knew this?

OK. And when were you planning to fill me in? Never?

You just wanted to laugh at me, didn't you?

Yeah, so Wednesday night was the worst night for my sleep deprived… Continue
