10 Fun Summer Activities for Kids

10 Fun Summer Activities for Kids

I walked into a store today to pick up a picture frame and other nicknacks. After gathering my items and getting in line, an older lady looked down at my children (who were bouncing around like a couple of sugar-high human jumping jacks) and said, “I have two just like that. Well, my son has two just like that. I really think they should just have school all year round. Being out for the summer…

Summer Heat Safety

As I went to pick up the T’s from daycare, I could not help but notice how stifling hot it was outside! While I was driving and sweating, my mind wandered to many of the high profile cases where children were left inside sweltering hot cars. Sure, we have all seen the signs on the interstate or at the…

Well it is that time a year when school comes to a close and we enter Summer Break!  I don’t know about you but the last few weeks of school seem to both breeze by and linger on at the same time.  What do I mean well, it is hard to believe my kids only have two more weeks of school left, our school year…

Building a Lemonade Stand with your kids

I believe that in the summer time, when kids are off from school, that it is important to keep them active. Its important for them and also for you as a parent. When kids are bored they can not help but get into trouble. They need the stimulation that they are no longer getting. One of the cool things we did last year with our daughter was to make a lemonade stand and see what she could do with it. Here's a little more about it if your are interested in reading and seeing more. :)…

Something Special to Share With The Kids On the Last Night of Summer Holidays

Well, the last night of summer is fast approaching, and I’m feeling sentimental about the end of another summer with my kids.  While I was thinking about all this last week, I got an idea that I am happy to share with all of you.  This little idea is not based on a family tradition, but is a new idea that I will be trying in my home on the last night of summer.  I thought you might like it too!

So, when my three children crawl into bed on that last exciting night before starting a new…

5 Ways To Keep Kids Learning and Engaged in Summer

I know its still a little chilly out if you are in the Northeast like me, but wherever you are, now is the time to start thinking about how your children will spend their summer.  As my children were growing up (They are now 17 and 18 years old)  I had one important goal for Summer:  I did not want the time wasted.  I grew up with days spent playing and learning.  Most days of my youth were spent outside with friends and we only came home for lunch and dinner!  It was a great way to…

Keeping kids safe at crowded summer events

Summer is upon us, and the kids want to go everywhere, beaches, theme parks, baseball stadiums, museums, hikes, waterparks, the list goes on. Sometimes airports or subways are involved.

All of these destinations make it quite tricky to keep close track of children particularly if they are young and you…

Things I've Learned This Week

** The self-checkout lanes at the grocery store are no place for morons.

** Wednesday evening was evidently "Be An Asshole" night at my house.  (I didn't get the memo.)

** It's impossible NOT to smile when you see a dog hanging out a car window, beard blowing in the breeze.

** My son claims to "love being…

Summer Sanders: Busy Mom and Member of Team Kellogg's

Most people probably don’t know that the United States is one of the only countries in the world that does not fund its Olympic team save its Paralympic team. I didn’t realize that either until I interviewed swimming legend Summer Sanders this week. Sanders, who won an impressive four medals in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games…

8 'essential' items I always keep in my purse

It's Day 2 of the SITS Problogger summer challenge and the task for today is to create a list post. I've made one before so it's not really a new task over here but they're fun to make anyway! So far this challenge has been pretty cake for me and I'm definitely not complaining. Breathe in... breathe out...

My choice topic for my list is, obviously, "8 'essential' items I always keep in my purse". We all know about the typical items such as wallet, keys, cash, hair elastic, cell… Continue

Slacking and Problogger Challenge- Day 1

It's been nearly a week since I've last posted and I have no regrets about it! I want to feel bad for neglecting good old 'Lipglossd Mom' but it has just been one of those weeks where I feel the less I do the better. I've had some emotional drainage since last Monday so I think taking a "mental health" week was just what was needed. Since then, I have some new topics to post about as well as a TON of great reviews and one awesome giveaway coming up! I'll post what to look out for in the right… Continue

Summer Love

Moms, we simply cannot get enough love, especially summer love. Maybe it's because summer love feels friendlier when we are walking to the beach carrying a chair, a favorite book and an iPod to keep our own delicious thoughts company. Seriously, don't your olfactory sensibilities become completely engaged with fresh suntan lotion? The smell of Coppertone and I'm 13 all over again.

Summer sea breezes make most of us swoon. Shakespeare's famous, "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?… Continue
