Guess where went a couple weeks ago?!
New York City!!
On the first day of our trip to New York we went to see the Statue of Liberty and the immigration museum on Ellis Island. Then we took a walking tour of slavery and the underground railroad. That was poignant and fascinating. In the evening we went to see the Broadway production of The Color Purple. The talent was incredible…Continue

We went back to Las Vegas again this year for more desert adventures! We stayed for 4 days/3 nights and had a wonderful and relaxing time. With Vegas, you have to plan ahead and make sure you take it easy on yourself especially during the hottest parts of the day. A notable change in Vegas is that many of the Casinos on The Strip & Downtown now charge for parking. It's not terribly expensive--about 5-6$ for a few hours, but annoying when you remember the good 'ol "free" days. And also,…Continue

This is a repost from January 2015, I'd like to share again...
On our recent family vacation trip, our airline of choice due to convenience and price was Jetblue Airlines. They are fairly known in my neck of the woods having quite a large presence in our local airport. Each seat is equipped with its own television screen. I didn’t want any ear phones since I was planning to either take a nap or read my Kindle, so I picked the “Map” channel which is a live pinpoint of our location as…Continue

Last Christmas we met in my brother's house in South Carolina and we decided to drive!
It's a 15 hr drive from MA to SC; but a road trip doesn't have to be boring... we scheduled fun activities on our way there, which made it a very enjoyable and memorable trip.
We didn't tell…Continue

It was in 2007 when The Succulent Wives came to be a blog. Looking back we are amazed on the plethora of topics that we have written about over the years. Some were poignant, some funny and many we had completely forgotten about. As our blog has grown, so has our readership and because of that, we want to share the ones that, to this day, are still our favorites.…

Nothing is worse than having your credit card declined, especially when you're trying to buy your family subway passes at a kiosk under Times Square surrounded by early morning commuters.
Don't get me wrong, the people around us were very understanding, if misguided in assuming we'd run up our line of credit. I think someone did offer to help pay our fare in the confusion, but just about everyone else was focused on catching their train.
It didn't help that when you're that far…Continue

We travel….a LOT. But if you are a regular reader of Pardon My Poppet you already know this. I find it chaotic to try to pack for a Toddler as well as myself. Often I wake up in the middle of the night the day before we leave in a panic. ”I forgot to pack the diapers!” or some other such necessity. Yesterday, Poppet only slept for 40 minutes. This did not leave a lot of “me” time in the day, let alone wrapping my mind around packing for our trip to Sudbury in the…

It dawned on me this morning that next week is Thanksgiving and I am going out of town with my little guy for 6 days. Did I mention I have yet to travel with my little guy any longer than a few hours and never overnight? I figured this would be a great time to put together a list of what needs to come with us when we're heading out of town overnight. I spent a few days jotting down items I use for the care of my little guy on a daily basis and determined what I need to bring and what can…Continue
