Hash Wednesday

...Yes, you read that right.  At the University of Illinois, we celebrated Hash Wednesday.  Because of the inclement weather of east central Illinois, Hash Wednesday was later in the spring semester, when it was sunny and warmer, usually after spring break and a few weeks before finals.  For one day, every spring the main quadrangle would secede from the nation and become its own country…where smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol was legal…for all ages.
