Christmas Gift Ideas for Infants – Eight Early Learning Toy Gift Ideas for Babies

Are you need some great gift ideas for your baby this Christmas?  As you know babies don’t need very many toys, especially during the first four months.  Once your baby turns 4 months old, he or she will need to begin spending time on their tummy to help develop their motor skills and strengthen their core muscles.   Even if your child isn’t quite ready to play with the toys, babies are always interested in looking around and exploring objects around them.  Playtime is also a great way…

Let's make... Chocolate Crispies!

Over the weekend we popped over to a fellow mummy blogger's home to pick up some shelves from her garage sale. While The Husband was dismantling the shelves, Xan and I decided to do a little more shopping. He almost immediately spotted the cookbook among the boxes of books and while flipping through it, he got excited and told me he wanted to make everything in the book. Since it was only $4, it was definately coming home with us.

He wanted to make the Chocolate…

10 Great Interactive Creative Books

Today I'd like to offer up some suggestions for interactive books/journals for your kids. Only you'll find it difficult to keep your hands off of these bad boys, because they are so much more than coloring books. They're more like personal creativity trainers between two covers, as they are full of inspiration, fun, creative direction, and ways to make art in a non-threatening, playful way. Great for kids, but what adult doesn't need a little more of this in their lives,…

Quiet Activity Idea: Felt Alphabet

We generally struggle to find activities that will occupy the kids during church services on Sunday.  I lug a large tote bag filled with different items each week and pray that we can keep them entertained enough for me to actually listen during the meeting.…

Roller Baby!

A few months ago I was reading blogs and darn it...I ended up on Ebay. That ever happen to you? Yes, here's the post that inspired such fun. Maybe I was just bored. Tired of the monotony of cleaning. Or thinking buying skates would be easier than dying my hair (never done that one still). But I ended up browsing skates and buying some that day.

And cha-ching, a week later my purple-white skates arrived all…

Make A Little Summer Magic

Cheers! Summer is officially here. And based on the weather here, summer didn't want anyone to forget it.

It was H-O-T all week.

After weeks of back and forth warm-and-then-cold-rainy-days, summer is here full throttle. And I'm excited that our tall, seeding grass will die back soon, so I can perhaps breathe clearly again. Sniff sniff.

A Whole Lotta Gardening

Life has been full lately.

A beautiful, tasty, diverse kind of full.

But, so full that some afternoons all I want to do is nap. Curl up on top of my clean bed, babe in arms, and drift off. Not for a long while, just a half hour.

Alas, Reality Check:

Babe is hardly a babe anymore. He's 1 already. Wah!

Babe only takes one short nap a day. One very short nap.

And, twenty minute nap usually occurs before the afternoon lethargy hits.…

Raising a Fit Kid

It is no question that kids of all ages love to play and be active! Choosing to play tag with a group of friends, swing from the monkey bars, or even kick around a soccer ball is all part of a healthy lifestyle that may lead to a lifetime of exercising! Studies show that young children who are encouraged to participate in such activities in their early years are more likely to continue those healthy habits into adulthood.

To prevent a decrease in a child’s activity level, encourage… Continue
