I was bummed with the thought of having to return to work after I had my baby.  Due to the circumstances, I was unable to stay at home with my baby after my maternity leave was over.  I remember counting down the days until I returned and I felt a deepening sadness overwhelm me.  Once, I returned to work…

Hearing Aids Were an Epic Fail – My Daughter’s Story

I moved from Texas to North Carolina, when my daughter was almost 5 months old.  It took us about a month to get settled into our new home.  After we got settle it was time to begin determining what the next step was to correct my daughter’s hearing loss.  Being new to the area, I found that it was difficult to find providers who specialized in advanced hearing loss, especially, since we were  living in a small town.  The closest specialists who were able to deal with my daughter’s…

Yoga Bitches

I wrote about the experience I have had dealing with insecurities at my Yoga Class. Maybe there is something to be learned about never comparing ourselves to others and measuring our best against ourselves and no one else!

The Mom Uniform

A couple years ago, while pregnant with M, I read on a parenting forum about being trapped in a wardrobe rut, always wearing the dreaded "Mom Uniform", khakis and a button-down shirt. At the time, I chuckled and made a mental note to mix up my body coverings once baby was born. After M was born, however, I found myself in the Totally Let Myself Go Uniform - I wore the same PJs all day (and night) several days in a row, even though they stunk of spit up. I just didn't see the point in…

Number Two on the Brain

I've got #2 on the brain. Not that number two. I'm talking baby number two. It's not a coincidence because lately it seems everyone is wondering if I'll have a second baby. I find this questioning only slightly less invasive than having  my belly felt up when I was pregnant. D2 turns two in November and whenever anyone asks me how old he is, it's always…

(Not) Doing It All

I have discovered that being the type of woman who can Do It All leads to Not Doing It At All. At least for me.

I'm a stay-at-home-mom of many small children who has done smidges of freelance work in the past. But I recently took on a large freelance project that has pretty much taken over all my spare time, and then some. Now, I'm squeezing in work all day long in between the home and childcare duties.

My husband hasn't changed his schedule. So when he gets home… Continue

Body After Baby: Run the Pounds Off

Monday is here again! Time to look back on the week and see how we've done, along with set new goals for the week ahead! I started running with Lucas last week and I'm loving it. We have some nice trails (smooth paths, really) around here and the weather has been so perfect. I also lost a pound, and I'm happy to say that I've lost all my baby weight! It's funny how your body really does change after having kids. I can say that I'm back to where I was weight wise pre-pregnancy, but I definately… Continue
