Sometimes Money CAN Buy You Happiness

When your kids are eerily quiet for any extended period of time, nine times out of ten it's because they're trying to burn your house down.  But every once in a blue moon, the stars all align, and the pip squeaks somehow actually manage to..... *gasp*..... play quite nicely together.  Sure, you might have to pay them for that momentary bit of peace and quiet, but we…

The Cadillac Ranch

It’s a modern day West Texas Stonehenge.

In the middle of a farmer’s field, on the flat plains of the Texas Panhandle, stands ten Cadillacs, half buried in perfect alignment, like soldiers in a military parade.

Inspiring with Food

We all go through phases with our children's diets. (Heck, I go through phases in my own diet as my tastes change throughout the month. So what can I expect?) But kids are notorious for being "picky," "difficult" and "plain."

And truth be told, my kids have thus far been truly amazing little eaters. My first has very openly tasted foods most of her life, leaning towards a less-interested stage when she hit four years of age, but nonetheless, discovering for herself what she truly…

DIY On-Demand Marketplace for Designers (and the rest of us)

Valentina Ramos - Gifted Illustrator

How befitting that, today, Valentine’s Day, I would choose to tell you about a wonderful and playful illustrator by the name of Valentina. I thought I’d pay her homage on this day meant for lovers as I have a mad crush on her work, which is, in fact, a tribute to a true love for life.

It Took Having Kids to Realize What I'm Truly Passionate About...

When I was little, I thought that I wanted to grow up to be a doctor.  I went on to university thinking just that.  But, like many things in life, things change.  For me they did, big time.  I got married, and had a baby...and then three more.  I kept up with school for the first few years of marriage and parenthood, but after six years and four kids later my entire pursuit in life changed.  The whole idea that being successful…

Word Art

As crazy as the holidays get, one thing I really enjoy doing over the winter break is collaborating with Munch to make art for the family. This year I was inspired by the "subway art" I've seen in many DIY blogs.

I began with this- one of several paintings Munch did a couple of summers ago when she was just beginning to explore with paint. I never cared for the muddiness that came from the brown and was just waiting to paint over it.… Continue

Store KidArt Smarter! Kidfolio Review

Tired of having glitter, pom poms, and wrinkled up paintings scattered everywhere?! At the risk of sounding a little less than sentimental, I can barely keep up with the massive influx of KidArt from preschool, which sent me searching for storage solutions. I found one that was basic, but brilliant. Oh, and cheap - a total bonus. :)

Books Galore!

My books for this semester have arrived and I have to say, I am slightly overwhelmed. I am taking 5 classes this semester and these books cover 3 of them! My other 2 classes are art classes and I don't believe they have books (thank God for small favors) but I do know that they will require a LOT of time and effort on my part. Luckily, I love art and those classes, although time consuming and sometimes stressful, are really…
