tumblr_lvejdmFYMZ1qbi1f7o1_500

Ever have one of those days where every-freaking-thing seems to go wrong?  And no matter what you try to do, it all just turns to crap?  (If you haven't, then it's safe to say that I kinda hate you, but I digress....)  Well, yesterday was one of THOSE kind of days, where if I would have looked up, I…

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

As my beloved Chicago Cubs celebrate their Opening Day, I thought I’d talk today about making healthier choices at the ballpark.  As a baseball fan and someone who used to work in professional baseball, I can tell you that part of the overall experience is the food and drink.  It just isn’t realistic to expect anyone…

An Unexpected Sappy Post (You’ve Been Warned….)

So I got that old familiar pit in the bottom of my motherly stomach again yesterday.  It happened when I dropped my son off for his first day of Sports Camp.  Yes, it's that same ol' dreaded feeling I seem to get whenever I leave my timid little guy in a strange new environment.  You see, unlike his mama, he's quite the shy type, and it takes every bit of my willpower not to play the…

Baseball field is no place for mother's intuition

A chilly rain was trickling down, and I was standing in the grass, watching as my son grabbed a bat and walked confidently to home plate. He'd been doing so well on his baseball league - I really had no reason to worry.

But suddenly, I was worried. Call it mother's intuition, call it a psychic flash. But suddenly, I saw in my mind's eye a baseball crashing into my little boy's face. It was so startling, I actually strode forward to the fence.

I was only a few seconds…

Things I've Learned This Week

** I like electricity.

** Mondays are like a zit on your chin that won't go away.

** Politics are so freaking political.

** My kids could be drawing on their walls with Sharpies at bedtime, but as long as they stay in their rooms, I really wouldn't care.

** Nothing makes you prouder than your son yelling from the…

Things I've Learned This Week

** Bras and humidity go together about as well as politicians and honesty.

** 7:30 AM is way too early for drama.

** It wouldn't surprise me in the least if my kids' heads spun around while they spit green pea soup at me.

** Spring baseball in Chicago can suck it.

** My imaginary housekeeper seems to have gone…

The boy's first Angels Game! W/W

A couple of weeks ago we took Easy to his first Angels game. I was anticipating either chasing him around or leaving early. Neither happened. He did absolutely amazing! He sat in his seat or stood in front of it the whole time! He was so into the game. Excited. Yelling. Clapping. Explaining the game to us. Baseball IS Easy's sport of choice so far. He already loves to play it and watch it. I'm sure it helps having a family of baseball players and avid fans. So another success... we plan to take… Continue

First Baseball Game

We took Matthew to his first baseball game, Worcester Tornadoes vs. the Brocton Rox, last weekend. Matthew held our hands in the parking lot until he heard the crowd cheer, and he let go to clap his hands too. When we sat down in our seats, he looked at the field and said, “Baseball cards?”

I would need to remember the cuteness of that moment to center me when he later drove his matchbox fire tuck through a melted puddle of ice cream on the ground and then licked it.

“So… Continue

Introduction

Gee, thanks to everyone who has so warmly welcomed me to the blogging world! You are all very gracious and I am excited about sharing on here.

I'll start off with a little about myself and my daughter.

I am a single mother (though I am in a serious relationship with a guy who has a son). I work as a teacher at a middle school here in Ohio. I love Ohio (HUGE BUCKEYE fan), but I hate the cold weather. I enjoy watching my daughter play whatever sport she is playing at the… Continue

The Calm Before the Storm

Yesterday, we took the kids to see the Mets and for once, my head was clear and I wasn't sidetracked by my to-do list or my BlackBerry. Since my BB died as soon as the game started, I could actually focus on having a great time with my kids and my husband as we consumed really fattening food and marveled at the amazing seats we had scored. We were literally three rows away from the field which means we could scream out at the players and they would actually hear us. In fact, one kid next two me… Continue
