Healthy Up Your Hair

We spend hundreds of dollars on products that promise to thicken, shine, soften and control our hair. Is all of that necessary? Not really. Taking a natural supplement will promote healthy hair as well as following a nutritional diet.

Our bodies require certain vitamins to aid in…

Time to "Face" Getting Older

We focus so heavily on our children’s birthdays and how fast they are growing up and getting older.  Newsflash…that means we are getting older too!  As my husband is about to turn 40 and I am only a few short years away, I have been focusing more and more on what it really means to be getting older.  In our twenties, my husband and I always talked about what 40 would look like.  When you are 21, 40 might as well be 70.  Not sure how it…

DIY: All Natural Lip Balm

During this time of year I have the most agonizing fight against dry skin. I don't create much oil on my own...Lucky you say? Not in the least. Skin types such as mine tend to get wrinkles earlier in age. I can slather on lotions but the artificial ingredients irritate me and break me out. I admit I havent really given hypoallergenic products a chance yet and very much intend to.

Ive started looking into creating my own skin care and would like to share some…

6 Beauty Foods That Work

Women place a lot of faith in expensive moisturizers and wrinkle creams, waiting months for them to do what the label promises. Surprisingly though, research is consistently showing that eating certain foods will beautify your skin from the inside out without the cost of those high-priced items…

Wet and Wild Working My Brows

I cannot be the only one....who sometimes questions their judgement while purchasing beauty items from the big chain stores, you know the Targets and Wal-Marts of the world, because how could products with such low prices work comparably to those that cost three to five times more? But the holidays are on their way and I can't waste an extra ten dollars on an eyebrow pencil, no matter how desperately my eyebrows are screaming for help, and this leads me to picking up these beauty essentials…

The face in the mirror

As I gazed in the mirror this morning I could only cringe.  New lines and wrinkles, new gray, new age spots....all this newness simply meant I was getting old.  I am not obsessed with my age of 56 but I do acknowledge that I have more days behind me than what I will ever see in front of me.  I wish I could see myself through the eyes of my grandchildren.  They don't see the wrinkles or age spots but rather someone whose eyes twinkle when they are around, someone who feels silly and…

Peppermint Body Scrub

‘Tis the Season for everything peppermint.  This is a quick and easy three ingredient sugar scrub.  I would recommend using it twice a week to exfoliate and moisturize your skin in the shower.  I used it right away yesterday and followed it with my coconut oil lotion (yes, the scents are completely conflicting), and am crazy soft.  I would also say you should use an odorless type of oil, I used…

Does "Equate" Beauty Equal Good?

I cannot be the only one....who tries to make the distinction between being a penny pincher and buying what I need at a great price. When it comes to personal grooming and beauty products the difference between economical and bargain can mean looking fabulous or like how I feel most of the time, harried, running late,…

Aging Gracefully

By Liza Kovacs, M.S.C, M.A., Fitness Contributor

Wow. I know I am not the only one who thinks about the future and wish for this, to be spared somewhat from the ravages of time and to sail through the twilight of my life with ease and elegance. My older sister reminded me again recently about Baby Boomers and their needs. While I fall a year short of being officially…
