Hi, it’s me standing on my soap box. Yes… again.
Moms make difficult decisions every day: Should I buy the generic diapers on sale or should I splurge on name brand? Breast or bottle? Is my child crying because he really needs something or is he crying because he’s a little fussy? Despite the unsolicited advice and lectures I have endured regarding my…Continue

My name doesn’t describe who I am very well. Jennifer isn’t an adjective.
If names were meant to describe who we are, mine would be: Clumsy, Awkward, ForgetfulContinue

I talk about myself a lot. But then again, this is the place to do so. This is MY blog.
On Twitter I am known as DCWorkingMommy. Why? Because I am a mommy who works in Washington, D.C. Clever, no?
I don’t talk about the specifics of what I do, however I share some of the drama that I sometimes encounter.

I’m aware of the fact that I dream every night, although I usually (and thankfully) forget the specifics. The subject matter has not improved with age. When I used to suffer nightmares about showing up at school naked, I now suffer nightmares about showing up at work naked. Must say, my post-breastfeeding boobs look pretty good. I remember that afternoon at the office water cooler. Two of my co-workers were discussing their summer reading lists. I jumped in to the conversation by admitting I couldn’t remember the last time I had read a book and I was curious if they had any recommendations.

One of the absolute best moments of my entire life was the moment I saw my son for the first time. Of course it was! My entire life would never be the same.
But months before the birth of our son, an unexpected moment made me realize how my life was about to change.
I was 5 months pregnant before two tests confirmed our family would be growing. It wasn’t a dramatic I-Didn’t-Know-I-Was-Pregnant (on TLC) moment, just a surprise that I had a difficult time accepting. Babies…Continue

My son doesn’t have a Jack-in-the-box. Excuse me while I pause and breathe a sigh of relief.
But what does alarm me are the toys that play music, light up, or have some other battery operated function… especially at 3 am.
If you’re a mom it’s not hard to imagine that 3 am wake-up call from your child. You hear a small sound coming from the baby monitor and hope it doesn’t become a bigger more upset sound. But the moans and groans become a cry and you accept your fate (if you…Continue
