Book Review: Mindy Kaling's Why Not Me?

**feel free to visit the original post at http://www.shadesoflovely.com/book-review-why-not-me/

I don't know about you, but when it comes to my Christmas vacation reads, I want something uplifting. I made the mistake of reading The Lovely Bones over Christmas break when I was twelve which was the absolute worst possible choice for cultivating Christmas cheer. Bring me pure, unadulterated fun!

But Mommy likes to read at bedtime

In the evenings, my wonderful husband supervises our son's bath activities and I am the one who gets to read to him at night. I don't remember how this started. I don't think we made any sort of agreement or arrangement around it - it may have been a natural progression of my cleaning up after dinner, him taking the little guy upstairs for bed, and our son liking to snuggle with me more (generally speaking).…

The Day the Meanie Dragon Showed Up at My Daughters' School

My girls love to climb the trees at their school.

IMG_0590 (1)

As soon as they see me at dismissal, they hand off their backpacks and run away with their friends - sometimes stopping to see me for a quick chat or snack. Most often they're monkeying up the handful of trees lining the school's playground.

I mill around nearby, talking with other parents and watching the girls when they call out to…
