Taking a closer look at my firstborn

My son and I are in the bookstore. (We love the bookstore.) He is happily wandering the aisles when he comes across an entire shelf of Goosebumps books. "Mom, I am going to need a few minutes to check these out," he says.…

Failed Newborn Hearing Screening – My Daughter’s Story

Once I received news that my daughter failed her repeat newborn hearing screening, we were quickly referred to the local children’s hospital and to an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor for further evaluation.  Things moved fairly quickly and my daughter was scheduled to have another type of hearing test to determine how much hearing loss she had so that they could determine what course of action that we needed to take.  The next hearing test was more extensive and my daughter had to…

Newborn Hearing Screening – My Daughter’s Story

I remember the day that I went into labor with my daughter, we were out celebrating my mother’s birthday and just as I was getting ready to crawl into bed.  I heard a pop and knew instantly that my water had broke.  Of course, I should have known better but I immediately ran to the bathroom and sat on the…

Trastevere princess

Since we have been back home, baby Giulia have been welcome and coddled by the all neighborhood's community.

Everybody is unbelievably happy because she's the first newborn in many years.

You must know that Trastevere is a very special neighborhood: the people who live here really feel like somehow belonging to the same family.

Which  means that before her…

She knows who they are.

During my pregnancy Hubby would always remind me to have some sweet music on.

He believed to those who say that babies, after their birth, can recognize the music that they have been listening to, when they were living into the belly.

I was skeptical about it.

Actually a…

Outfit N.1

Some of you have probably read on my FaceBook Page that I am completely going crazy about new born babies shoes.

What could you expect from somebody like me that has Italian blood in her veins and writes on a blog called "MiR. First and only rule: never give up on high heels", uh?!

Anyway, as far as practical…

Questions with no answers

My baby Giulia is due sometimes around June the 15th.

Maybe even before that.

Obviously we are all very excited about this.

I am also scared to death…but I don’t want to think about it.

The entire family is looking forward to the event (even though my husband will have to give up the upcoming Foo Fighters concert… – Giulia has already something to be forgiven for).

Me, Husband, grandparents, aunts and (I like to believe) our two dogs…

While…

Tips For New Parents

I remember the day I became a mom as if it was yesterday.

I didn't know what to do, I was clueless and I couldn't understand how happy the baby is going to bring our small family.

The biggest tip I would wanna share with new mothers or new parents is to buy anything you can in advance and let the people who love you know you are gonna need their help and support.

My mom helped me the first weeks and it was a great time to bong with the family.

The new born got used to… Continue

First Born Frenzy

When my son was born, our house transformed from a chic, yuppie house to all things baby boy. A barrage of toys-for-boys filled the rooms, an indoor slide, a maze of parachute tunnels and a mini-basket ball hoop dominated his playroom. His closet broke a rod holding the dozens of blue outfits he had been given and I had bought. Every day I was off to the store to get something he needed, and whether it was the latest baby gizmo or another have-to-have baby accessory, I managed to find something… Continue
