Crib Bedding Sets for Your Baby’s Nursery

Many parents search for the perfect bedding set for their new arrival and spend countless hours decorating the baby’s nursery. Crib sets are a great way to get your baby matching sheets, blankets, bumper pads, and some sets offer other accessories that match the bedding set.  Most bedding sets come with regular crib bumpers and…

Keeping Calm. And Quiet.

Have you ever logged onto Facebook and felt like you could comment on just about everyone’s status update?

In a not so kind, bubbly or loving way?

Well, I guess you could say that I know I’ve reached that point in pregnancy where I need to keep quiet.  and calm.  and hold…

Crockpot Chicken Tortilla Soup

I put this crock-pot together on Sunday when the boys were recovering from the flu.  Yes, I already know what you’re thinking… Mexican food?  With the flu?  Crazy, right?  Well, they pretty much spent Friday and Saturday on the couch, eating nothing but toast with jelly,…

Our Life with Boys... through my iPhone

There has never been a dull moment in raising our 2 boys.  Never.  Each day, each week, each month, each year has been such an awesome adventure and has opened my eyes to a whole new world.  My way of thinking  has changed, the way I view the world around me is different, our way of playing, how we talk… It’s always been…

What an Adventure...

Let me just start by saying, whoever thought that taking a road trip when your 8 months pregnant… wait, no.  I should really start by saying how sweet it was that my hubby took the time to plan a little family getaway after the holidays.  In all honesty, it was an awesome idea; one I would normally love if I weren’t 8 months pregnant with a God awful back problem.  I knew this would be quite an adventure as it was, taking 2 toddlers and a psycho dog to the mountains.  Now…

Holiday Drama

I can only imagine that every member of my family just read the title and clicked on it so fast thinking I was writing a post about them!  Slow your hearts down…  I’m writing to all the mamas and friends who have written me over the course of this month.  I’m at a stand-still right now with nothing to do.  That’s right… NOTHING.  It feels odd and I’m a little out of place.  I have nothing to bake or cook, nothing to wrap, nothing to clean and only 1 basket of laundry to fold.  SO I guess, as…

Life, Links and a Recipe

Coffee?  Tea?  Let’s chat!  I’m here and still alive but this is the time of year I usually feel like I fall off the face of the earth.  I feel like I’ve been so focused and wrapped up in my own little family of 4 (soon to be 5) and realize that I’ve not given much attention to those around me!  Is that normal?  Is it just what happens at certain stages of motherhood?  I’m definitely in that stage.  Sometimes I get overwhelmed when I try to keep up.  Sometimes scrolling through…

Welcome to our Toy-Room

One of the joys of, well, all of my pregnancies is that I organize and re-organize everything.  Tell me you’re the same way, yes?  During my last ‘nesting session’, I hit the toy room, purged lots of toys and re-organized everything.  My head was spinning with options as to what to do with all of their toys and…

A Letter to my Son on his Birthday

3 years ago today, our Roman was born.  I woke early and felt great but I was nervous about what was to come.  I can remember thinking about how crazy it was that I felt so good and in just a few short hours, I would be in a lot of pain.  Repeat C-Section.  I bent over and touched my toes, twisted…

Construction Themed Birthday Party

As a mom of 2 boys, I’ve put together 2 construction parties to date!  The first party was for Rocco’s 1st birthday and it was a huge bash with family & friends from near and far.  The second construction party was for Roman’s 3rd birthday and it was a much smaller…

Weekend Highlights: Trick-or-Treat & Snow

Hey friends,

How are you?  No really.  How are you?  Do you ever get into the fake “How are you’s” too?  Seems like these days, Brian and I get so busy and our ‘how are you’s’ come out so fake and quick and fast and then we really aren’t listening to what the other is saying.  Like when he came home from work one night last week and I was getting dinner on the table.  I said,

“Hey babe, how are you?” – getting dinner on all 4 plates…

I'm a Hot Mess... Pass the Preggatini

I feel like a hot mess this week.  I’m not on my game and I couldn’t be more thankful that it’s Friday!  Pre-School has really changed my little guy in so many cool ways but I’ll be the first to admit; its changed him in some not so cool ways too.  He’s learning some ‘bad’ things from other children and then trying out his ‘new moves’ at home.  Common, right?  Of course!  But one thing he’s learning that I don’t like are his new words and phrases.  So, how…

Rocco's Car Bedroom

Today Rocco told me that his pre-school really hurt his arm.  Alarmed, I asked, “What!?!”… “How!?!” His response as he whimpered and held his left arm?  “They made me pick up a lot of toys.”  The kid just makes me laugh… and roll my eyes…  And yesterday?  Yesterday he told me that his ears get loose.  “WHAT?” I asked.  His response to that one?  “You’re losing your head and my ears are getting loose.”  Here’s what I came up with: When I do something stupid (which is often) I say,…

For teenage boys, wearing sunscreen is soooo not cool...

A few of you out there may have a teenage boy. I personally have a 14 year old boy and am constantly stunned (and puzzled) how his behavior contrasts that of his older sister. I mean, I know there is of course a difference between boys and girls but this to me seems weird: he is embarrassed to wear sunscreen. Is your son/grandson the same way?

My most recent blog post provides a little bit of an overview of his distain for…

My Son...The Reader

I have always been a reader.  I can not remember a time that I didn't love books and magazines.  When I was little, my grandmother always subscribed to magazines like Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Ebony and Jet.  I spent countless hours flipping through those magazines as a child.  My grandmother got a kick out of me sitting in her living room reading the Los Angeles Times newspaper when I was about 9 years old.  When I was totally engrossed in a book and it was time for bed, I…

Moms in Boyland

For those moms of boys, there is a camaraderie among us. We are the moms who have grown accustomed to rough-and-tumble play, checking pants pockets on laundry day for small critters, stepping on Legos with bare feet (and trying not to let your son hear you curse…
