I do not breastfeed my baby. That's my dirty mommy secret. Most women feel the need to reveal why they formula feed when in fact, they do not owe anybody an explanation. I should just end this post with "I do not breastfeed, bye!" but I would like to further drive home the point to not judge a mother until you've walked a mile in her shoes.

I agree that breastfeeding is the best for babies but it is not the only way. You have choice! Yes you have, even if everyone around you saying something else. I was going to breastfeed. I really wanted to do that. All my pregnancy (42 wks) I was preparing my self for breastfeeding. Unfortunately my labour was very stressful and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. All the time in my head was sound of my baby’s heart which wast slowing down. I don’t need to tell you how frightened I…Continue

It's been over a month after the birth of my baby and I've managed to lose a bit of weight. My prenatal weight was 57 kg and three days before I put to bed I weighed 74 kg. Now, a month after delivering my baby, I’m just a little over 62 kg. So yay me!
It's well known that mothers who breastfeed burn about 500 calories a day, so its very important to top by eating, albeit eating healthy.…
Before my breastfeeding journey began I couldn't wrap my head around how to nurse quickly with my wardrobe. I never paid attention how other mom's did it, well first I didn't want to be rude to stare to observe.
I however did asked my nursing friends tons of questions via text, but as we all know I'm a visual person…Continue

When you become pregnant everything is a little overwhelming, or way overwhelming! You are making sure your eating healthy, taking the right supplements, creating a birth plan, looking for a postpartum doula and so on!

O.K., I admit it, sometimes I HATE breastfeeding. There, I said it. At three a.m. when I am awakened for the third time by my sweet eleven month old nuzzling up against my shirt and crying, I have to say that I have bottle-feeding baby envy. I want nothing more than to hand my baby over to my soundly…Continue

When my child was born my goal was to breastfeed for one year. I was open to the possibility of continuing beyond the one year mark, but from where I sat a full year of breastfeeding— with all of the time and discomfort and pain that went along with it— seemed like a lofty enough goal.

The term "Breast is best" is tossed around often, and most people take that to mean that nutritionally, breastmilk is better than formula. But it goes so much further than that! How much further? How does “fewer infections, increased intelligence, probable protection against overweight and diabetes, and…Continue

It can hurt

In one 24 hour period, I spend approximately 4 of those hours breastfeeding or pumping. That is 28 hours a week- practically a part time job! One day, while using my computer to watch So You Think You Can Dance as I fed my son, I decided to find something better to do with my hours than watch every reality TV show possible.
I started researching sites that would allow me to make money during those 28 hours a…
