My first baby boy turned two yesterday. TWO! I can't believe it's been two whole years since I met first met him, coughing and spluttering after being dragged into being. What a blur of love, tears, awe, wonderment and it seems balloon ribbon choices. It's with shame I admit I spent at least 3 minutes discussing the balloon ribbon colour with a long suffering, yet very patient, party warehouse… Continue

Occasions, such anniversaries, are meant to be special. How can you add an extra touch to make that particular celebration even more memorable? Here are two options: you can go to a posh restaurants and spend 2 weeks of groceries on one meal, or you can do it at home. Dining at home doesn’t seem very special, let alone romantic, especially since you do it practically every day. But, as I recently found out, there are ways to create a unique and… Continue

My friend's adorable little guy just had his 1st Birthday, and I was honored that she asked my mom (My Cake Hero) to make the cake. This little guy has a jungle themed nursery, and so to keep with his theme, she wanted a cute little monkey birthday cake, and that's exactly what she got.…

A co-worker came to me one day and said "My cousin, it's her birthday and she's very girly. She has this pink Juicy Couture handbag. I'm going to give you a picture, do you think your mom can make a pink purse cake in this shape? "
Of course mom is always up for the challenge, and having 3 daughters herself, she's no stranger to the handbag and shoe obsession that most of us girls have. I know you ladies out there know what I am talking about. This was the result of the request. It's… Continue

How can it be so enjoyable to do something so naughtly like eating an entire cake yourself in the course of 3 days? Don't judge me because I'm doing it for good reasons 1. It was in the freezer and we have to eat everything out of the freezer within the next four days or throw it out 2. No one else in my house will eat it as much as I've tried to pursued Queenie to try it 3. It't so freaking yummy that I can't stop!
I went to the gym today and worked out for 40 minutes, so I'm allowed a… Continue

This is my first gluten-free chocolate cake that's not from a mix. I tend to stay away from mixes, because I enjoy creating my own and also I like to add my own sweetener. I really like how it turned out but I do want to try another chocolate cake made with partly coconut flour.

Now, I'm no ace of cakes.....but, I can make a pretty pastry if I do say so myself.
I've been making cakes for about 15 years now. It started with a class at an arts and crafts supply store and has become a long lasting hobby. Since my first cake ( a dalmatian cake for my daughter's third birthday) I've crated a litany of cakes. Wedding cakes, birthday cakes, shower cakes, baptism cakes....cakes with flowers, cakes with motorcycles, cakes with cartoon characters, cakes with… Continue
