Trauma: How Derek Got Hit By A Car

It was a red minivan, actually.  We had just pulled into the driveway from picking Troy up from preschool.  There were several neighbor kids walking home from school across the street.  As all four of my kids and the two pups spilled out of our car, a couple of the kids asked if they could see the puppies.  Jason and I walked across the street with the pups.  I looked back towards the house and Derek and Troy had climbed the tree at the end of the driveway.  Everyone seemed so safe.…

Who's That Crazy Lady?

Have you ever noticed that you are more willing to do things you wouldn't have been caught dead doing before having kids? I am so there right now. Izzy and I were out and about most of the morning. I had to take her to the pediatrician for a wellness checkup and then run errands afterwards. Towards the end of our trip we were waiting at the red light around lunch time. Izzy was getting a little fussy so I broke out singing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider". She loves that song and will usually join in… Continue

Suburban Roller Coaster

As overly cautious as we are about protecting our children these days, it's a wonder any of us survived our own childhoods of yesteryear.  Heck, many of us probably rode home from the hospital on our moms' laps IN THE FRONT SEAT OF THE CAR (without a seat belt, no doubt)!!  All this fragility makes me wonder if our kids are missing out on some of the good…

Pet Wellness Driving Safety - Don't Be Brainless!

Car accidents are caused by many different situations. Some involve unsafe, inconsiderate drivers, others are caused by texting while driving, drunk drivers, and drivers driving unsafely with their dog. You would be surprised as to how many pets, owners, and other drivers are killed or severely injured due to an accident caused by a dog roaming freely in the car. Pet…

The Fine Art of Car dancing

I’ve been car dancing for as long as I can remember. Maybe I got a little more free with my moves when tinted windows became popular. I guess I thought I was semi-hidden until someone I knew saw me and never

let me live it down. Eventually, I just didn’t care anymore. I busted

my moves, cut my rug, and mashed those potatoes – in the car, in the

grocery aisles, on the sidewalks. If the mood struck, I was DANCING.

Of course the fine art of car dancing is no fun alone, so…

Reproduction in My SUV

I bought myself a Mommy Vehicle 2 years ago. A nicely equipped official Mommy SUV. It was the the biggest thing I’d ever purchased by and for myself. Figured it would be perfect for hauling my son and his friends and all their bikes, skateboards, beach chairs, football equipment, etc.

I’m not the neatest person in the world. I openly admit this. And yes I have an extra pair of shoes in that SUV as well as a couple of magazines and a half empty (or half full) bottle of Poland Springs… Continue

Earth Promise: New Green Mileage Standards

New automobile emissions standards are on the right track. President Obama is serious when it comes to fighting our global warming dilemma, creating new eco-related jobs and reducing our ongoing dependence on foreign oil. By 2016, all auto makers are required to make new cars and trucks get 30 percent better mileage. It will be a gradual phasing in process with the 2011 new automobile models. Initially, it will cost the consumers a bit more per vehicle, but these “new… Continue

An outfit, a car wreck, TMJ, and TGIF!

Last night I raced home from work to relive Mike of baby duty so he could go give a few roof and paint estimates to people. I loaded Em, and Jude in the car and we went to get some groceries. My house was beginning to resemble Old Mother Hubbards Cupboards! When we got there I reached into the back seat to lift Jude's car seat out. I guess I opened my mouth when I lifted the seat because the next sound out of my body was a yelp of pain. My jaw suddenly locked in place, and there was sharp… Continue

If you missed this story and the other odd-ball "mom news" that made headlines this week be sure to stop by my blog at ChitChatMom.com to catch up.

Have a great weekend mamas!

A Lesson in parenting from The Obnoxious SAHM

What NOT to do while waiting in the car circle at school.

Picture it, I am in line waiting to move every inch or two by the minute. To ease my troubled 3 year old, I say "Oh Hey! Guess who is behind us? Your friend Oliva and her mommy is in the car behind us!"

- My little Sophia is strapped tightly in her car seat and immediately RAGES into pure excitement and tries to contort her tiny body to get out of the restrainsts to see her friend car behind us.

Her… Continue

Typical Morning

My morning started out in the same fashion. I open my eyes to two little people demanding everything under the sun. My bladder is about to bust and I shew the kids away before I really regret getting out of bed. Thank GOD I made it in the bathroom! I shut the door behind me as it pushes the kids on the other side who are trying to get in with me. The door slams and the kids have their cue to cry and whine. I turn my mom ears off to the noise and wonder if I have any coffee made.

A… Continue
