The Salt and Ice Challenge – Kids Are Using Table Salt and Ice to Cause Painful Burns to Their Skin

Yesterday afternoon when my son got into the car, he was asking his sister if she ever put salt on ice.  I didn’t realize that he was talking about putting the salt and ice combination on his skin.  I just assumed that his science teacher was teaching them about temperature changes using salt and ice.  Then this afternoon, I noticed a huge red spot…

Top 5 Challenges Faced By Women In Business…and The Solutions!

3 Women in a meeting strategizing

Both career women and those in business have faced many obstacles in past decades and unfortunately, still today. Women in the workforce have battled glass ceilings, unequal pay for equal production and undeserved stereotypical barriers. As business prototypes have changed with the advent and growth of the internet, so have the unique issues encountered by women in…

There's No Crying in Baseball, But in Pre-K and Kindergarten.........

Remember the movie, “A League of Their Own” when Tom Hanks delivered that memorable line: “There’s no crying in baseball.” Of course, those angry words were uttered as he berated one of his players severely who then began to cry. I might be crying too after a tongue lashing like that.

But, when children are three, four and five years old, it’s not surprising or…

What Makes You a Mommy Master?

I often get asked what the definition of a Mommy Master is.  The answer actually lies within oneself since everyone has a different definition of what make them a successful parent.  Let me start off by saying that no one is truly a Mommy Master every day of their life. Some days we succeed at motherhood and other days, not so much.  There are times when we feel on top of the world because our kids ate all their vegetables, listened, napped and said please and thank you without prodding. …

Fear and Beyond

Last week I called the instructor at the local Ropes Course. We were set to attend with our homeschool group in a few days, and I realized that although it may be interesting to watch the older kids climb, zip and whirl, it'd be more fun if my two oldest could participate fully.

The answer I got: The harnesses can be fit on very young children. It's more about their personal will and interest.

So, we woke early a few days later, tossed our picnic in the car, and drove as…

Kind of Like Groundhog's Day

I've been telling my husband lately that my life is a lot like Groundhog's Day.

Monotonous. Yes. But I'm actually the one choosing to shape it that way, since it keeps everything flowing smoothly and sanely here.

My personal Groundhog's Day is complete with:

* Anticipating hunger by pre-preparing snacks.

* Thinking of meals in as far advance as I can stand, so I don't end up in a hot…

What I Want for my Children

Argh! YOU DID WHAT?!

Yes. That's me on many an afternoon. Make that morning. OK, truth-be-told, it can happen at any moment. Today it was the crayon-covered rocker that did me in.

And despite the fact that children are not the behaviors they exhibit, I honestly have difficulty sorting the two when my impatient Aries-anger ignites.

Whew. Deep breath. Calm down. Re-focus. Now move forward.

Yes, having children who are ages 1, 3 and 5 can be challenging. But…

Cursed with Parsel Ped

Yes, like parseltongue (from Mr. H. Potter). My oldest and I seem to be gifted with parsel ped. Infliction or gift of the foot, otherwise known as the ability to tread so lightly that you almost step on snakes (and sometimes lizards) during the heat of snake season. Which is definitely upon us now.…

Blood Oranges and Sunsets

Last week I was so stoked to find blood oranges at the market. I love blood oranges. Actually, I love most any food that's visually stunning. Looks are a lot for me when it comes to food.

And as it turns out, names are a great influence to our girls.

You see, these… Continue

find your own happiness

I have been slowly working through my 100 ways to be happy list. The original list that I found is HERE

and I carry it around with me all the time. I take it with me so I can

ponder over what I want to focus on and then work out how I can plan

activities and adventures into our family life.

Recently, as I have been pouring over this list I have learnt that to be

happy I need to… Continue

Bitter-Sweet

I expected that having a baby would add new challenges to being married. So, I am not surprised that there are moments when I'd like to kill my husband and, I'm positive, vice versa. I decided to write this post after a disagreement on the weekend about the difference in our lives right now, and by lives I mean having a life vs. not having one.

What am I bitter about? Well for starters, how about the fact that pregnancy turned my body into a never-ending project? I have to lose… Continue

I've also joined two challenge a 29 day giving challenge and a 30day challenge to learn how to market myself properly via the internet.

On the home front I hope to successfully wean my younger boy in 2-3mths time so that everyone can get a better nights rest.
