Rainbow Looms for a Cause

If you haven't heard of Rainbow Looms by now, well, then, you've probably been living under a rock.  They are literally EVERYWHERE, and chances are, you may even be wearing one of the bracelets right now.  My daughter and all her friends have been making them like it's their job, and my car could practically autopilot itself to Michael's to buy the replacement bands.…

The True Meaning of Christmas

As a kid, it's hard to see the big, wide world outside your own tiny bubble of existence.  (Heck, it's not easy even as an adult sometimes!)  That's why I've made it my mission to try to teach my kids to help out people in need.  And one of my favorite holiday traditions for our family is to help fulfill the Christmas wish list of a child in need.

For the past…

Summer Lovin'

Summer congers up images of sand, surf, swimming, sailing and perhaps the thought of, some serious sweating.   Summer is a season that I most enjoy (except when I have to work inside on the most magnificent of days) and Summer is the name of a woman I so admire.  I had the great pleasure of interviewing … Continue

Rescue Her On Feature Friday

A couple of weeks ago while blog hopping I found a blog post that really touched me. In Arizona you hear a lot about human trafficking and its a very scary ordeal, while human trafficking is primarily smuggling mexicans across the border, it goes both ways. Along with drug cartels, human trafficking in and out of mexico is 90 percent under aged girls. A good majority of these girls are even under the age of 10. Being a victim of sexual abuse I have a hole in my heart for any child who suffers… Continue

Domestic Violence: Happy Birthday Desirae

Today would have been the 16th birthday of my oldest niece. On February 4th 2010, her and her mother were killed in a case of domestic violence

by the man her mother had been married to for almost 10 years. Because

of this man's actions, my brother is without his daughter, children are

without their mother, I am without my niece, and on and on and on.

Tragedies like this one are so far reaching, I'm not sure we can ever

know the full impact of what… Continue

Please Vote For a Worthy Children's Charity To Win $1 Million

Please Vote For a Worthy Children's Charity To Win $1 Million

I get very emotional when I see, read about, or watch on TV a child in pain. A family struggling to accept the reality of an impaired or afflicted child in their lives. An empty crib, clothes that are never worn, a mother who has lost the light of her life.

Ah, there is so much misery in the world. Every time there is a natural disaster I have the urge to adopt an orphaned child whose parents were taken in the… Continue

Helping Haiti

In a recent article from The New York Times - "One of the poorest and least developed countries in the world, Haiti in recent years has struggled with problems ranging from near-constant political upheaval, health crises, severe environmental degradation and an annual barrage of hurricanes, which killed an estimated 800 people and caused vast damage in 2008.

On Jan. 12, 2010, a massive earthquake struck… Continue
