Kraft Ain't Got Nothin' On THIS Mac 'N Cheese

There has been a whole lot in the news lately about Kraft Foods and their boxed macaroni and cheese.  And with good reason.  Ever wonder what gives the product its golden, “cheesy” color?  Artificial dyes my friend.  I mean, come on.  The “cheese” is a yellow powder that you mix with milk and butter.

But here’s the kicker.  Several other countries have banned these artificial dyes and refused to sell any products containing them.  So did that mean that these European boys and girls…

Eating My Way Through My Canadian Vacation

Being Canadian and living in the United States, it amazes me that there are so many differences in our foods. I understand that some things are different since Canada has a marked British legacy, as it only gained full autonomy from the U.K. in 1982. Add the fact the we have a strong French influence too, this makes some of dishes uniquely Canadian, such as, Tourtière. That said, I feel that…

GOD MADE ME CHEDDAR; I MADE ME SWISS

  • Like a brick of cheddar cheese, I was made in the solid image of God: destined to be whole; wired to be filled. There was never meant to be any holes...But along the way--like swiss cheese & by my own doing--holes got added to what was meant to be solid. Sometimes, I get discouraged that my life has made me hole-y. Thankfully, I am loved by a God who--when I ask Him to fill the spaces--gloriously descends an extra dose of His…

Cottage Cheese and Rolling Pins

I am all about the cellulite.  Not getting it, although I have become a bit obsessed about having it.  As I mentioned in Homeotherapy, I have a Home Spa Kit that I picked up in a bargain bin at Borders, complete with rollers, files, mitts and a recipe book.  In the recipe book was a nifty recipe for ridding oneself of cellulite.  It required essential oils of grapefruit, thyme, fennel, lavender, geranium and juniper berries mixed with two cups of…

The Mac 'n Cheese Dilemma

http://projectsupermom.blogspot.com/2010/10/mac-n-cheese-dilemma.html\

Tis the season...the season for heavier and carbier foods. As soon as the weather gets cooler and I add my extra blanket to the bed and dig out my favorite fuzzy pink slippers, my body starts to signal that winter is near by berating with cravings for all things carbs! Seriously, like bears, I swear it's some biological need…

Cheap Meals

This week, I decided that I just need to make more inexpensive meals. I study cookbooks, talk to friends, check out recipes online. I have tried to spend an emergency meal plan like it has been suggested on particular sites. I can never seem to do it. I think prices are more expensive here in Massachusetts.

I bought a turkey and a family pack of hamburg. Of course with the turkey, I got nice hot turkey sandwiches for a Saturday night supper and a huge pot of soup. So there are two meals.… Continue

All Is Calm, All Is Well-Remembered Traditions

Today was a day without a storm. Yes, no storms personally nor outside.

What type of personal memories do you have from Christmas Past?

Bulkie rolls, white fish, pickled herring, seeded rye babka, kielbasa... Do these foods seem unique to you? We are Polish and we can only find some of these items on Water Street in Worcester Massachusets.

In fact today, when my husband, four of my five children and myself walked into Widolff's Bakery (a bakery I have gone into since I was two or… Continue
