All parents learn to appreciate a good mystery. Think about it: One moment, you are happily twirling along in the universe, doing your own thing and the next moment, you have a baby and are faced with a million unanswerable questions. (How long is the baby supposed to sleep now? What did the baby eat to make that smell? You want me to put the thermometer where?)
Are you looking for some ideas to make bath time more enjoyable and fun for your child? Most children enjoy playing and splashing in the bathtub. Bath time is also a great way to introduce your child to water so that they aren’t fearful of water especially if you plan on taking the swimming during the summer months. Are you need some great gift ideas for your baby this Christmas? As you know babies don’t need very many toys, especially during the first four months. Even if your child isn’t quite ready to play with the toys, babies are always interested in looking around and exploring objects around them. Playtime is also a great way…Continue

I can only imagine that every member of my family just read the title and clicked on it so fast thinking I was writing a post about them! Slow your hearts down… I’m writing to all the mamas and friends who have written me over the course of this month. I’m at a stand-still right now with nothing to do. That’s right… NOTHING. It feels odd and I’m a little out of place. I have nothing to bake or cook, nothing to wrap, nothing to clean and only 1 basket of laundry to fold. SO I guess, as…Continue

I love that our little family now has a few traditions throughout the year and this is one of them! Monkey Bread. I only make it one time a year; on Christmas morning and this year I am especially excited for it (probably bc I’m pregnant and have been craaaaving it since December 1st!)
Monkey Bread is prepared on Christmas Eve and left sitting out on the counter until morning. Then, all you have to do when you wake is pop it in the oven, set a timer, and voila! 20 minutes…Continue

So, Matt is in 1st grade and already he's getting teased by a few girls for believing in Santa Clause. Already? What happens in theses houses that the magic has been extinguished so soon? These aren't kids whose households just don't celebrate in that way. These are kids that say their moms…Continue

My son came home from school a few days ago with a paper sack and handed it to me. He said mom, “this is for you.” I asked him what about dad, he said,”it was for him too.” I carefully opened the paper bag and peeked inside. I pulled out this cute ornament that he made at school for us.
I asked my son how they made it and he told me, so that I could share it with my readers. It is a simple craft idea that you can easily do with your children. And it would look cute hanging a few…Continue

With a young son, Christmas was not a major production although we all strived to make it special. It was important that baby’s first Christmas be filled with special memories we will share with him through pictures and stories when he’s a little older. But of course, our good intentioned gifts were not so well received.
In early November when my son went through a surge of developmental milestones, I upgraded Christmas. He was certainly not going be passive about Christmas…Continue

Boxing Day used to be a high point for many of us parents. After a year of buying full-price retail items and perhaps getting some items on sale every so often, this one day of the year promised to relieve us from the financial strain of raising children in a modern world. Kids, after all, are expensive.
While the holidays proved to be a high point of the year, let's face it: getting a snowsuit or new running shoes for our children at 60 per cent off was almost too much to bear.…
