I Love Super Grover 2.0, More Than My Kids!

Every morning I look forward to watching Sesame Streets superhero, Super Grover 2.0 with my girls.  My girls always rush me to get them dress, “hurry Mommy, so  YOU can see Super Grover!”  I asked my girls this morning if they knew why I loved Super Grover?  They said because he is always trying to help and I told them, “yes!” for the most part…  I love Super Grover because he never gives up, no matter the…

Bamboo? To wear or not to wear? A Baby clothing must have?

Why Use Bamboo

Why Bamboo Clothing?

Bamboo fabric has a natural sheen and softness that feels and drapes like silk but is less expensive and more durable.

Bamboo clothing is easy to launder in a clothes washer and dryer.

Because of the smooth and round structure of its fibers, bamboo clothing is soft and non-irritating, even to sensitive skin. Some people with chemical sensitivities can not tolerate bamboo…

Hoochie Mama?

Hoochie Mama?

It's hard to believe that I'll be 35 tomorrow.  When I was a kid—and even in my early twenties—35 sounded ridiculously "grown up," and 40 seemed positively ancient.  Yet here I am, feeling perfectly fine about the milestone.

I probably wouldn't be making much of…

D-ring and Velcro Belts for Kids, Which To Choose and Why

When I started my company, Cute Beltz I was so excited because let’s face it, you couldn’t and still can’t find belts for toddlers in the major chains and I was going to make sure every kid’s “bum” was covered! After 4 years, I am still excited about belts! It really is a wonderful feeling to hear a “thank you” from so many of you!

I love that we offer two types of belts because no person is the same and we all have a look in mind when we purchase an accessory. So it’s cool we offer…

Redefining March Madness (yes, I know it's April, but that's how maddening my March was)

So it’s March Madness, and even the Nana has a “bracket” that she’s betting on.  Well here’s what I’m betting on . . . absolutely losing my mind before March is over!!
A couple months ago, following a particularly in depth round of spring cleaning, Husband from Heaven and I were “casually” looking at new homes.  Well, one thing led to another and 60 days later I am now sitting at the kitchen table in our new home.  This is also the reason that I have not written in so long. …

Snow: Everybody Panic!

Snow; a word that incites panic and excitement. Panic for the adults and excitement for the young and young at heart.

On Friday afternoon, there was nervous office chatter about the snow and wintry weather headed our way.  If you don’t know what that means in Washington, D.C., let me illustrate a picture for you. Although it is not necessary to stock up on toilet paper and water, it is necessary to conform with all the other panic-stricken zombies who are. Go to the grocery store…

Clothing Battle Won (For Now)

Every morning there’s a constant struggle in my household. My daughter is 9, going on 16, and thinks that she can dress like it. Thanks to society telling her via TV shows, music, movies, and “cool” clothing lines that it’s okay, she doesn’t quite understand why her mother is so opposed to it.

“But Mom, I want skinny jeans. Everyone at school wears skinny jeans, why can’t I?”

Because not everyone has a mom with PMS (…

Mom-Zombies Wear Aprons

I have a lot of things in my house that serve no purpose.I have them simply because I can. They might have been a good bargain or a well intentioned gift, but they serve no purpose in my life. Bath loofahs are a good example. I probably have 10, am always acquiring more, but never-ever use them.

I can take little credit for the meals which are prepared in our house. My husband is chef. I am cooking-assistant (yes, that’s what he really calls me). I peel potatoes, chop onions, boil…

I’m Gonna Be a What: Accepting Motherhood

One of the absolute best moments of my entire life was the moment I saw my son for the first time. Of course it was! My entire life would never be the same.

But months before the birth of our son, an unexpected moment made me realize how my life was about to change.

I was 5 months pregnant before two tests confirmed our family would be growing. It wasn’t a dramatic I-Didn’t-Know-I-Was-Pregnant (on TLC) moment, just a surprise that I had a difficult time accepting. Babies…

Every Day is Boxing Day

Boxing Day used to be a high point for many of us parents. After a year of buying full-price retail items and perhaps getting some items on sale every so often, this one day of the year promised to relieve us from the financial strain of raising children in a modern world. Kids, after all, are expensive.

While the holidays proved to be a high point of the year, let's face it: getting a snowsuit or new running shoes for our children at 60 per cent off was almost too much to bear.…

How to Get Your Kids to the Dentist Without Tears, Tantrums or Throwing

Growing up, you might remember a time in your life when the only thing scarier than the boogeyman was your dentist. Over the years, you grew to appreciate your dentist and his or her service to your dental health, however, it did take you some time to grow into that mentality. Give your kids a…
