The Cold and Flu season comes around yearly and claims the days and nights of many professionals, including working women, mothers, children and families. When the flu is passed on through the members of the home, this can create a storm of sniffles, sneezes, watery eyes, sore throats, body aches and pains that are just too much for you to handle as the executive of the estate. AKA: Mothers
Going to work can become an arduous task. Staying home with sick kids can…Continue

Were you too busy on Super Bowl Sunday watching the commercials to notice that groundhog Punxsutawney Phil had emerged from his burrow? He saw his shadow and went back in to hibernate predicting that the blistery winter weather much of the country has been experiencing will last for another six weeks.
For many of us, winter weather does seem to drag on longer than we'd like. And being stuck at home in February and…

Coming back from a family vacation is never a fun thing. The packing, the travel, the crabby kids -- they all add up to one giant pain in the ass. It pretty much makes you forget that you were even on vacation at all. But this recent sucker punch back to reality after our New Year's trip to…Continue

I cannot be the only one....who after receiving their flu shot had an inflated sense of invincibility to germs, after all, wasn't I injected with a live active super version of the flu? Even though the pamphlet that accompanies the inoculation doesn't actually say it protects against the common cold...it has to make you at least a little stronger to fight those pesky germs, right?…Continue

I don't know how it is in your household, but in mine, there's a WORLD of difference between when I get sick and when my husband gets sick. We're talking night and day contrast, people. You see, he turns into a 39 year-old baby when he's under the weather, whereas I must continue with life as normal, sniffles and aches, be damned!
It was just last week when my other…Continue
A nasty sickness has been worming it's way through our family, taking us out one by one like some kind of stealthy, paid-for-hire assassin.
I was first. Then my oldest daughter got and it and this weekend my husband got it. It is a nasty cold but not just any cold, a MAN COLD!
A man cold is similar (on paper) to your run of the mill woman cold, except that in real life it's much more dramatic and whiny.…Continue

It’s Kindergarten time and we and when I say “we” I say that loosely as I rather mean “I” as Mom! Mom has had to deal with; lice, cold, flu, fevers, pink eye, growing pains, nightmares, teething, etc.
My husband works during the day so, I get it, I…Continue

I rolled out of bed. I could feel it in my bones and down my spine. It wasn't necessary to peek out the window but I needed to confirm with my eyes what my body was already telling me. It snowed last night....

I am slowly feeling better. I started feeling sick Wednesday so four days is long enough for me to be sick. Not that I have any say in how long a cold stays in my system but you know what I mean. I’m done with it. I’ve pretty much laid low and stayed near the house except for the few “emergency” outings I needed to take. Meanwhile, during my resting periods I’ve been reading and looking things up on the Googles. I’ve read several of my new raw food books and I fear that I’m not quite as…Continue
