Welcome to Hick-Ville...Population ME!

Have you ever read a news article from your local newspaper that made you literally *face palm*?

I had one of those moments this morning!

I sit down and start digging through my massive amounts of email and Facebook posts and run across an article that left me speechless.

For those…

Remember Cross Country USA and other old games?

For years I have been thinking about the games I used to play in elementary school. The games were grainy, and kind of slow...but that didn't matter because they were still so much fun. Then fast forward to today, I saw my brother in law watching a game on his Ipad and it wasn't until I saw a triangle appear on the screen that I realized he wasn't watching a game, he was playing a game. Technology has come so far! Our children…

Snake in the Grass

I took Henry to our family farm this weekend so Dada could have some

"quiet-time" and so Papa could have some time with his grandson. Two birds with

one stone. Excellent.

The truth is, I love to see Henry, decked out in

his ripped & torn "barn jeans" and John Deere-green hat that says "Future

Farmer," trudging down the lane between the farmhouses or stalking across the

hayfields.

He's just so determined to "help" on the farm and I love how he…

Going Home

Home is where the heart is.  But, for my daughters, their hearts aren’t just under my roof.

As internationally adopted children, I know a part of them still resides in their birth countries.  As they grow up as red, white, and blue Americans, Elle is still Russian, and Bunny is still…

Dinner at Tyler Florence's new Rotisserie & Wine, Napa

My sister gave us a gift certificate to the new Tyler Florence restaurant in Napa, Rotisserie and Wine. We got to the Napa Riverfront early enough to walk around.

Munch loves the pathways that go around the park and under the bridge.… Continue

I'm an Odd One I tell You!

So is it weird that I listen to P!nk and Taylor Swift back to back? I

have these musical sides to me that I just don't know where they come

from. I have this hard you can't touch me side, but want to have this

soft vulnerable side to me as well. I'm so into music these days. I

seriously was an artist in another life. I used to dance, I used to play

guitar, I was in choir and used to sing and I used to play piano..then

for whatever reason, I stopped. But music still… Continue

Sex in the Country

Picnic in Houston

I took my kids out to eat at a place called Picnic in Houston, it is a nice small place that appears to be named after an old movie. It has a couple of picnic tables inside, but has a deli "feel" to it. We ordered some simple sandwiches and dined inside, it is hot in Houston this time of year.

We decided to look around while we waited for our sandwiches, and noticed that practically everything we picked up was either made in Texas or some other state in the U.S., now this was…

Pig Scramble

As most of you know, the kids and I spent three entire, long days at our local country fair while Dominic was away on his Scotland trip. Saturday was Farmer's Day where there were all kinds of activities to participate in such as team penning, wild cow milking, calf scramble, boot scramble, egg toss, etc. Bryce was able to participate in the…

What a Difference a Year Makes

A year ago, we lived in an upper, upper middle class neighborhood that required dodging golf carts as you drove home from the grocery store. Houses were really

big and really poorly built, but it just wasn’t a small, well built kind of

neighborhood. This was the type of

neighborhood that gave out large candy bars for Halloween, not the little

bite-size bars the rest of the world gives out.yes""> And most of the kids in the neighborhood…

Big City Girl Gone Country

Born into the large city of Vancouver BC, Canada I was brought up in a nice suburban home with my parents and two sibblings. I attened large schools, had many friends, and the close convinience of everything I need around me, with more and more being built and cities expanding. My whole life was living the "standard " lifestyle I had always known as "My Life". Once I graduate highschool, it was to the working feild for me. I was never one for continuing my education (although I sure wish I had… Continue
