10 Date Ideas for Parents and Children

10 Date Ideas for Parents and Children When you first think of the word "date," it's easy to assume that it involves two individuals roughly around the same age who are in some type of romantic relationship, whether new or seasoned. While this may be true, "dates" can include kids, too. (preferably not in addition to the two individuals in a romantic relationship- that's what babysitters are for!) Special outings with just one child and…

A Collage for Daddy

lly and I wanted to do something special for Daddy, just to show him how much we love him. We sat down to brainstorm a couple ideas of what to do and finally settled on making a collage for Daddy. The collage would contain things that he really enjoys and something that describes him. Although our Daddy is one who likes to wrestle and roll around on the floor, he also really enjoys dressing up and looking nice!

Check out our finished picture and see how you can make one…

We all know errands are best done sans kids.  Everything is faster, less hectic and we can actually concentrate on the task at hand instead of praying that no one has a meltdown in public.

Usually, I save my supermarket shopping for Monday mornings,…

I'm Not Done Yet...

“Go into the process of creating with a big healthy dose of uncertainty and be prepared to adjust as necessary.”

I read the above quote in a blog the other night before I went to bed and it reminded me about a young boy I had met earlier that afternoon while volunteering at the Building for Kids. I am making it happen here! Hope you will too!

Let me start by saying that when my four kids set off for school in the morning amid kisses goodbye, double knotted running sneakers, heaved backpacks, and heart-shaped hand symbols to indicate yet more love for me (mommy), the day stretches ahead of me. It feels like I have hours to myself. Hours to accomplish all the things I set out to do. But then, how quickly 2:00 P.M. shows its face and I find myself scrambling to do ONE thing that will make me feel even remotely productive. Anyone else… Continue

From Urban to Suburban

Comfortably I rock untied Adidas Top Ten's, I listen to my music absurdly loud, I wear tiny tight T-shirts (sometimes the ones with derogatory remarks written on them) that don't hesitate to show off my belly button, my pants somtimes sag, I got a few tattoos,  I cuss relentlessly, I'm a wee bit loud and I don't reserve my feelings for any occassion (especially when I know for a fact that I'm right). I don't scare easily (coming from the inner city of Detroit, who does?), I'm extra…
