Finally a spend-smart credit card for teenagers! When my son was 16 years old, he had an opportunity to go England and train with the coach of the Manchester United soccer team. Chase (my son, not the bank) had a bank account but due to under-18 age status, he was restricted with his ATM debit-only card which he could not use as a credit card. So, we nervously gave him cash to take with him. I bought several travel type garments (socks, money belts) in which he could hide the money. Not a great… Continue

This weekend I had the tedious chore of reconciling our latest credit card bill. Usually it’s pretty easy but this month I noticed a charge from an Internet company that wasn’t familiar. In fact, the charge description only provided an 866 phone number. So being due diligent, I called the number. Low and behold, it was a “store front” billing company and it was unable to let me know the… Continue

Yes, there is. In this economy many families have to make that decision. I personally had to file for bankruptcy 7 years ago. This was due to a car accident and separation with my now ex-husband. During the Continue
separation he wanted our new car. The car was only a year old. Since he took
the car I assumed he would pay for the insurance. The car was in both our
names. He did not keep up…

Well, we did it! My DH and I stuck to our "financial fast" and this weekend, it will officially come to an end. Good thing too, because I only have a few dollars left and we need groceries :)
I did learn something rather interesting about our family during this credit/debit-card free experiment. We eat a lot of fresh food. My fridge is nearly cleaned out but my pantry is still filled with rice mixes, tinned veg and soups. Before I really got into cooking, we use to eat a lot more… Continue

Well, this is probably the first time I felt joy and excitement upon opening a credit card statement. I just learned that my Gymboree Visa card is now offering $20 store credits
as bonuses to new cardmembers and the person that refers them.
I love this card because they give you 1% back in gymbo credit on all your purchases and a 5% discount on your Gymbo purchases online and in the store. I've also used this card to transfer a balance and take advantage of a 2.9% interest… Continue

I know we've all seen the "free" credit report advertisements. Usually you get it free for a month, and if you don't cancel, you find a charge of $14.95 on your credit card. I just came across this neat website that offers you a chance to see your credit score for free without even having to post a credit card or debit card! It's called Credit Karma.… Continue

I was grocery shopping today and had the luxury of shopping by myself. While shopping, I saw a dad have a bad parent moment. The dad was on a mission to take his son to the bathroom. While lifting him out of the cart he smacked his son's head on a low door jam. As the dad comforted his son, the parental guilt was all over his face. Instantly, I felt a connection with the dad. I've been there. I've had plenty of bad mommy moments.
I really believe there's been a shift in the American… Continue
