Review of "What Daddy Bear Loves" and DaddyBear by Daddy Scrubs

Seriously, how cute is this teddy bear DaddyBear? I was actually expecting a delivery of my son's second LeapPad. Upset that I was guilted into buying another one, I didn't even bother reading the Fedex label. I figured, since the box is small, it had to be my ebay purchase, but nope...it was the most adorable little teddy bear I have ever seen and an equally adorable hard cover book from Daddy Scrubs!

As soon as I opened the box and saw the bear, my first thought was "this is so…

Weekend Recap

What an amazing weekend we had here!

Saturday was a little rainy but that didn’t stop us from going out and running some errands. Since it’s been so chilly around here we wanted to get Emmett some warmer clothes and possibly a jacket. He has plenty of long sleeve shirts but no real sweatshirts and of course being a first time mama, I wanted to find some warm cozy fleeces for him. So the husband and I headed to Carter’s first. We found loads of warm clothes and spent way too much…

The Most Difficult Conversation with a 10 year old: Why Daddy had to leave

Three years ago I made the decision to let go of the man I had spent 14 years building a life with. It was a decision I made over the course of two years; battling with myself and those close to me who saw the destruction the relationship was creating in my life and in my spirit. It was really awful in the end. But it's over, and I'm happier.

But my children are not.

In fact, for 3 years, my 10 year old son has been unhappy, frustrated, violent, ill-mannered. I have gone…

My Heart Of Stone

I'll freely admit to you, right up front, that I believe in fairy tales. Sort of. What I mean is...I believe that two people in love can live happily ever after. I believe in the power of things unseen. I believe there is more to this world than just what we can pick up with our five senses. I believe in miracles. I have no choice in the matter. I have seen miracles, I have heard of…

Cuff Bracelets for Grads and Dads - Instant Statement

I recently wrote an article about the in-fashion of cuffs for women. Let’s not leave the men out. No matter what their age this one single piece shows that he has style and is not afraid to show it.  They are perfect for both the young and, shall we say, seasoned, men in your life. With both Father’s Day and graduations just around the corner, these may just…

What if I had my dad in my life as a child?

I attended my Dad's funeral Friday, and I'm here to tell the story. Instead of telling the story of how my half-brother tried to make me feel insignificant - even during my Dad's funeral ceremony - I'll tell the story of how the relationship that wasn't was, and how I think it's made an amazing difference in my life.

As a little girl, I fantasized ALL the time about how amazing it would be to have my Dad in my life. A couple of my friends had Dad's, and I just could not understand… Continue

The New Years Resolutions that Will Not Be

What a weird beginning to 2010. I'm so blah. . not feeling like I've shed the grief of 2009 and accepted all the new opportunities that are awaiting in 2010. Right now, I'm really just fakin' it 'til I make it.

As I always do, I started my list of New Years Resolutions. I do not remember anymore what #1 was, but #2 was to spend more time with my Dad. "More Time" as opposed to seeing him twice a year despite his constant pleas for more time. Arrrrrrrrgh. .…

No "Goodbye Daddy" for me

My Dad is dying of prostate cancer.

It's a frustrating fact that I've known for some time, but the desire to be sad about it became even more intense two days ago when I called to check in on him and his hospice nurse told me that he was so deeply drugged with Morphine that at this point, he has about a couple of days to live.

There are obstacles to me rushing to my Dad's bedside. Read… Continue

Baby Week 29 There are several days during the week that have some sort of special meaning to them. Monday is the day we all dread as we are heading back to work.
