Don't Compare Your Insides to Someone Else's Outside

“Don’t compare your insides to someone else’s outside.” I first heard this quote years ago, well before the rise of social media. Now, more than ever, it speaks volumes to me.

As far back as middle school, and possibly even elementary school, I remember girls comparing themselves to one another. It didn’t stop there. Girls judged: on looks, on clothes, on choices of friends, on anything and everything. It’s so much a part of…

As today is International Yoga Day, I wanted to reflect on everything that is brilliant about yoga, the benefits that it brings to adults and children and how it has helped me over the years. This is the day to celebrate all things yoga!
Firstly, a little bit about my yoga story. I started doing yoga back in 1998 with the help…

Our Daily Bread

Check out the original post here, please and thank you XOXO

If you’ve noticed that I haven’t been writing much lately, it’s because I’ve been stuck in the same rut that I’ve been in for months; tired of moving, longing to feel settled, far from the goal. I don’t to keep rehashing the same old “how does a person deal with prolonged transition?!” dilemma, but that’s pretty much what’s on my mind as of late.(that and how to get…

He's not really a rebel at heart

My son is in time out.

He is in time out for many reasons which include (but are not limited to), talking back to me, not following directions, yelling and breaking household rules. He may or may not also be in time out because I need a short break from him, as he is having a bad day and driving me crazy and…

Choosing the Good Part

Here in Ohio, our winter has been incredibly mild this year, and we were all really happy with that, minus not having a white Christmas. However, the last few weeks have brought the cold, snowy weather that we are more familiar with for this time of year.

Only this year, we’ve got a…

Valentine's Day Honesty

I'm annoyed with Valentines day. It just is too dramatic for my liking. The worst part is that it's dramatic in multiple ways. Whether a person expects a thoughtful gift and high level romance or the HATE VALENTINES DAY, IT'S A HALLMARK HOLIDAY.. blah blah person.. Or that you are single 364 days out the year. Yet if on Valentines day you don't have a date, it's some how the worst thing ever?

If you are only affectionate or thoughtful to your spouse  3 days a year. (Valentine's…

Thank you, Daddy

Every since I was a little girl you have been my go to guy.  I don't know how many times I've even compared my husband to the man that you are.  Knowing that ever since I can remember you've set the bar far beyond reach even though my husband comes pretty darn close.

Every February 14th, you didn't forget me.  You love my mother more than your own…

How I Sabotaged Myself & Made a Bad Day Worse

Tuesday was Elijah’s first day back to kindergarten after his winter break. It meant we all had to get back into our normal routines, readjusting from our more laid-back holiday schedule.

While we did try to get the boys to bed on time at least the few days leading up to Tuesday,…

Life without preschool

My son is a product of preschool. My husband and I both work and our parents are either too far away or they also work and were not able to watch him for us. So, off to school he went. It was crazy expensive, but the costs of him going outweighed the cost of me quitting my job. And, thankfully, he loved it. In preschool he learned most of what his teacher is covering now in Kindergarten.…

Ways to manage the pain often include Lamaze, water therapy, epidural, hypnosis, etc. I opted for hypnosis when this little lady graced us with her presence.…
