Labor Day has passed and most likely there won’t be many opportunities for swimming until 2016. Put those unwanted pool noodles to good use and re-purpose them as a pool noodle lightsaber!
If you’ve explored my blog, you know the only DIY I attempt and share is simple and inexpensive. My…Continue

DIY can be fun, but it is even more rewarding when your child can learn new concepts from it. I have a little one who is excited about learning, it is important to take advantage of his enthusiasm (and involve him a little in the DIY process).

This year I am helping to organize our class reunion. Anyone who has done this can attest to the amount of work it takes (not to mention time, money, and energy). One of the easiest parts for us was coming up with a theme. Since we scheduled it for late summer we knew we wanted a more casual and fun theme so we decided on a luau BBQ.
While we have done electronic invitations already, some of our classmates expressed that they would like to receive paper…Continue
Kids can’t sleep because light is streaming through the curtains? Can’t afford blackout curtains? Check out these two hacks that I’ve found extremely useful:
1. VELCRO THE CURTAIN TO THE WALL
Using one half of the velcro sticker on the curtains, and…
When I was redoing the playroom, I went back and forth on whether or not I needed curtains in there. The two windows in the room are large, original windows. One faces North and one faces West. The North facing window is surrounded by a line of trees and really doesn't need any window treatment on it, while the West facing window gets some sun in the afternoon/evening.
I originally thought about something really simple like wood blinds or even a nice roller shade. I wasn't crazy about…Continue
I can't believe May is almost over already. It has been feeling a lot more like March or April around here in Central Kansas. We have gotten so much rain these last few weeks and the temps have been in the 50's more than the 80's. I definitely don't want to complain about rain, but our garden could use a couple of consecutive sunny days.
We planted our garden a little over a month ago, and some things are really starting to take off!...(and some of it, not so much). This is our first…Continue
If you know anything about me, you know that I love a good deal. Like a super cheap, high-five yourself, kind of deal. You can call me cheap if you want to, I won't be offended. I will spend hours scouring flea markets and garage sales and enjoy every minute of it. Anytime I can save our family money, I feel pretty awesome about it.
The only thing better than finding a cool piece of furniture for a great price, is finding one in our home for free. In our upstairs bathroom, there is an…Continue

Like knock you on your butt, sick. What started out as allergies, has quickly escalated to bronchitis....Hello mucus. Needless to say, I've been very unproductive this week. The couch, a box of tissues, and I have become best friends. I high-fived myself this morning for getting two whole loads of laundry done....just five more to go!
The only good thing about this is that we have been able to give the "new" playroom/rec-room a spin. There is a closet across from the…Continue

When we first moved in and I was contemplating paint colors for our master bedroom, I had all pale colors in my mind. Something light and airy, and calming. So color me surprised (no pun intended) when I decided to go with a very dark navy.
I've said before that I really am trying to get out of my color-picking pattern and have a little more fun with color. I want to incorporate…Continue

love that February is a month that we really have the opportunity to tell our families how much we truly love them. I think throughout the year we get busy going and doing, that we don’t pause very often to tell each person how we feel. This past year, I have learned to NEVER let a minute pass us by and to ALWAYS make sure that those people around us KNOW that we love them.
Today on the blog read about this tradition and see step by step pictures to show your love to your whole…Continue

During this time of year I have the most agonizing fight against dry skin. I don't create much oil on my own...Lucky you say? Not in the least. Skin types such as mine tend to get wrinkles earlier in age. I can slather on lotions but the artificial ingredients irritate me and break me out. I admit I havent really given hypoallergenic products a chance yet and very much intend to.
Ive started looking into creating my own skin care and would like to share some…

This craft was not intended to be a Thanksgiving key chain. Matter-a-fact, it started off as a turkey headband. You know, those really cute turkey feathered headbands?

Do you have some extra empty toilet paper rolls around your house? Do you have a toddler or a young child that enjoys making crafts? Thanksgiving is a few weeks away and I wanted my youngest son to help me make some turkey’s for our dining room table. I gathered up a few of my craft supplies from my …Continue
