Thank god she's not our nanny!

I read a lot of Mother's Day blogs and articles online yesterday, and one article was about the pressure to be the perfect mom. Moms are not even willing to admit to the every day silly mistakes that all parents make anymore, because no mom wants to expose herself to the criticism and scorn from the other "perfect" parents. Back in the day, you could screw up occasionally and admit it without fear of universal…

Other uses for diaper rash ointment: A handy tip from grayhairedmom

There are none. Especially, don't use it to brush your teeth. Yes, I tried it; No, not on purpose; And no, I wasn't even old or a mom yet, so I really can't use senility, "Mommy Brain," or sleep deprivation for an excuse.

I was babysitting my niece one day, and we both took a big nap after lunch. I woke up…

So this old, pregnant woman stumbles out of a bar.....

New York City is not a bad place to be pregnant at age 50. But even though most New Yorkers have seen it all and make fewer assumptions, I was prepared for awkward situations, I thought. I knew strangers might look at me, especially on the subway, and wonder, "fat or pregnant?" I've done it myself! I will stand up and offer my seat (most of the time as long as I haven't had a horrible day) to older people (and that…

Isn't snoring annoying?

The giant man-baby snores… a lot! When bedtime rolls around it's kind of a race, a race on who can get to sleep the fastest! If I'm not asleep before him, I know I've got an agonising night of listening to his builder-esq snaffling all night until I finally get to sleep out of sheer exhaustion.…

Clever Find - Poachie's Egg Poacher

It’s the little things in life that make us happy, right? Like the perspective of successfully poaching egg without having a nervous breakdown in the making of it (i.e. achieving that elusive balance of having the egg white set and the yolk still runny).

And, I mean the real poaching, in boiling water, not the cheating kind with all the chichi non-stick poaching skillets and other similar electric versions. I’m going to buy a specialized skillet just to make my occasional Eggs Benedict?…

Egg Yolk Facial Anyone?

Okay so let me start off with this warning: This facial is a little messy, and my egg yolk covered face is more than a little comical.  Enjoy looking at my enlarged pores, and blemish filled face, knowing full well that your skin is probably way better than mine.

PRE FACIAL FACE:…

Tweet Tweet Home - Spring is Right Around the Corner

I know, it may seem that I am jumping the gun on spring here, but as I live in SoCal (don’t hate me!), I can tell you that the birds are a-buzzing over here!  I have noticed (and heard) plenty of house finches looking for a place to nest this last week and thought it would be a good time to put up our…

What's Up With Your Eggs?

What are your plans for Easter weekend?

Last year we had all 5 of the kids and I took them to a local egg hunt. My hubby worked 7 days a week then (at his last job) and couldn’t go with me, but I was able to talk my mom into going to help out with the kids. It wouldn’t have been too difficult by myself, but since my son was just a year and a half he needed most of the attention. They split the area up into sections for different age groups and have games and little booths for…

Last week every major newspaper reported that New York has become the first state to allow taxpayer-funded researchers to pay women for giving their eggs for embryonic stem cell research. In the recent governmental shift of supporting embryonic stem cell research this is a development welcomed by scientistists world-wide. However, it has received harsh criticism by… Continue

Our First Easter Egg Hunt

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to extend greetings to you all today and to wish you all Happy Passover! and Happy Easter!

Wanted to share with you a post I just did on my blog called Our First Easter Egg Hunt. Here's an excerpt:

The day didn’t start off with singing birds and warm sunny skies…Oh no…it had to be cold, gray and gloomy with a wicked brisk wind.

As I was happily crashing my toy trucks and trains into the blocks and into the wall…
