Acquiring a Taste for Wine – How to Properly Enjoy This Elegant Beverage

Even if you drink wine regularly, you might not have a developed taste for it. Drinking box wine from your local supermarket does not mean that you know wine, but if you would like to acquire a more elevated taste for this extremely elegant and at times sophisticated beverage, the process is…

Tell me how tired you are

It's the morning and your alarm has just gone off - an angry buzzing sound breaking into that peaceful murky bliss. You hit the alarm with a surprising amount of force and sit up in bed.

The problem is that you feel like you haven't slept at all and you are still tired. No, not just tired. Bone tired, where…

My Love-Hate Relationship with Breastfeeding (on demand)

O.K., I admit it, sometimes I HATE breastfeeding. There, I said it. At three a.m. when I am awakened for the third time by my sweet eleven month old nuzzling up against my shirt and crying, I have to say that I have bottle-feeding baby envy. I want nothing more than to hand my baby over to my soundly…

Milk the Moment

With life constantly throwing reminders at me that my kids are, in fact, growing up (cell phones, sleepovers, bike riding to school -- EEK!), I often get swept up in the everyday craziness of just trying to keep up with it all.  Half the time they don't want to talk to me, let alone listen to me, and,…

"Run Them Like Dogs"

I was very pregnant with my twin boys, when Dave, my neighbour at the time, offered some unsolicited yet very astute advice.

We had run into him unexpectedly at our local neighbourhood bakery on a cold January afternoon. When hearing that my babies-to-be would be identical twin boys, this wise man, a father of two boys himself, imparted the following advice in getting through the rearing of these children: "Feed them lots of meat and run them like dogs." … Continue

Perchance to Dream

Perchance? Fat chance. Sleep is not happening in my household.

The fantasy of a good night's sleep is a distant memory as I consider keeping my eyelids open with toothpicks. Yea, it's that bad.

On a recent work night, I had the honour of being woken up at 1:24am, 3:27am, 4:17am and 5:20am respectively. The last occurrence was the one where I threw in the proverbial towel, made myself a huge pot of coffee and jumped in a steaming shower with hopes that … Continue

I am so tired that I washed my hands while drying my hair!

Ever have one of those weeks where you are so tired that you can't even see straight? I'm sure, as Mommies, you have all been there. Those nights when you are up all night with a sick child, or feeding a newborn, or if you are really blessed both. Yes, we have all been there. I am not asking for pity:)LOL I am merely sharing the very interesting, albeit scarey, scenario that I experienced a couple days ago in a hotel bathroom . Wow, that sentence sounded way more exciting that what actually… Continue

Latest Post : On Mothers

"....It is funny I can look at them both and see them just as they were in the hospital - cradled in my arms for the first time. Their eyes squinting and unadjusted to the light all around them - unaware and scared of the world they had entered into. So tiny and red. Wrinkled and scented with what seemed the essence of purity itself...."
