The business venture we don't want to fail

About seven years ago, my husband and I decided to go into a business venture together. The stakes were pretty high: We knew that it was a long-term investment and that we would be working crazy hours. We knew that we would not receive any financial gain from it and that once we entered it, there was no backing out. We were signing up for sleepless nights, an increase in marital strain and depression, and potential health…

DIY laundry soap didn’t work for me

As a HUGE fan of Pinterest I’m always looking to test out new recipes and DIY tutorials that I find on the site and DIY Laundry Soap seems to be a very popular item for stay at home moms to try at least once in their housewife careers.

Personally I’m attached to Tide and Bounce for my washing and drying…

Tooth Fairy Fail

If I could take myself into a dark alley and kick my own ass, I totally would cause I seriously dropped the parenting ball the other night (once again).  Yes, I completely failed my duty as the Tooth Fairy, y'all.  Now I know that plenty of people have said that they, too, have forgotten a tooth here and there, but I swore that I would never…

Terrific Tuesday - Why Use Technology When It Fails

Terrific Tuesday - it is terrific to have technology that helps us keep our lives in order.

Recently, for no reason at all, through no fault of my own, the hard drive on my laptop computer decided to stop working and I had to send my computer back to the manufacturer for service. I used that computer to write my blog, run my calendar, keep track of business matters and keep up with my children. I am proud that when the hard drive died, I remained calm, did not cry. I was okay because…

Mommy Snob

Okay, I'm a mommy snob sometimes.  I've read a few blog posts about other moms giving dirty looks or leaving negative comments.  I'm not one of those.  My mommy snobbery comes out when I hear, read or see other moms doing things to their kids mainly for their own convenience without regard to the research proving it's not in the best interest of their child.  Or they take some of these baby training books word for word without using common sense with it.  It makes me wonder why…

Don't Check Out of Parenting

My sister and I took the kids over to Play Town to let the kids get in some fun and burn off energy. Play Town is a local business that caterers to families with children under the age of 5. It's a large room filled with activities. You can find a inflatable jumpers, slides, mini roller coasters, a playhouse, toy cars, bikes, etc. I think Play Town and other businesses like it are GREAT! It gives parents, like me, a chance to let their child play in an air conditioned and safe place with… Continue

Workout Meltdown

When I am quiet about my workouts and diet, it means one of two things - 1) I am just humming along, working out and eating healthy as normal, 2) I am flying under the radar because I have fallen off the wagon.

I feel ridiculous talking about my diet and exercise plan when people are losing everything they have, even their lives in tornadoes.  But people all over the nation are talking about who won American Idol, Arnold Schwarzenneger's love child and baby mama (still!), and of…

10 Reasons why people don't reach their goals

Top 10 Reasons Why People Don’t Reach Their Goals

1. Goals are not clearly defined.  Knowing exactly where you are going and how you are going to get there will help you achieve success!  In order to achieve your goals they must be clearly defined and written down.   Make sure you are as specific as possible!  Don’t write “eat healthier” write “replace my regular lunches with a salad.”

2. Lacking Focus. Posting your goals where you can see them every day helps you to…

Black Friday – it’s Not Just About Fashion

Fashion, eh? It comes and goes, then comes back around again, at once fleeting and eternal. A style is in one month and then is never heard of again – until it is heard of again, of course.

The quest for fashionable clothes never ends; it’s just that what is in vogue is always changing.…
