7 Steps to Take Action Now Even if You Don’t Like It

use calendar for balance <a href=

It is fantastic to know you can balance work if you organize your life the right way. Almost every day I field questions from friends, associates or co-workers about how to balance work, home and everything. They wonder how I am able to keep all the balls in the air. Often they are looking for the magic bullet or secret potion that makes balance possible and easy. The fact is, there is no magic bullet, no secret potion. If…

Married Young

Married at 18/19 sounds crazy, and trust me, we have been judged, still get judged, but we are surviving and thriving. I met my husband in the 6th grade. He lived 3 blocks away from me and together with our older siblings, we would walk home from school. After I had moved away, 25 minutes away, we lost touch.…

Why we don't eat cupcakes

We eat dinner as a family whenever possible. And although I have been a little slack about it lately, we try to eat our meals family style because they teach children about portion control.

What I didn't…

5 Fun Fall Family Traditions

The fall season is upon us! Cool, crisp air, football, pumpkins, apples and pretty fall leaves are some of the wonderful things in store during the autumn season. There are so many opportunities for making some wonderful family memories with fall-themed activities. I've picked 5 that my family enjoys and does each year.

1) Visit a pumpkin patch. We have two pumpkin patches that we visit every year. It is fun to look back on pictures of the kids and how they have…

Give Thanks : Catch the Thankfulitis

How 'bout that snow, eh , guys?!!

It's that time of year again to eat till your pants cause a serious pain in your lower abdomen and when naps are a must. A time where people come together and bring odd dishes like jello molds and cheap wine. Tomorrow, my pals, is Thanksgiving!

I could eat a Thanksgiving meal 365 days a year without question. It's my favorite, especially the way my Mom makes it because no one ever makes it like dear ole' Ma. I just love getting together… Continue

I DO believe in child support: From a mom who doesn't accept it.

I have been noticing an anti child support trend lately.  I see articles popping up everywhere from women who claim not to believe in it.

While I understand why they may not want to accept child support,… Continue

Helping boys remember

A few weeks ago, I thought my memory could use some work. But after talking with some friends about my memory gaps, I've determined that I have a pretty good memory. I can remember little details around my childhood; lectures that I attended in college and loads of details about my time with my wonderful husband.…

Meals on the run

I am a fast eater. Probably too fast. Most days it takes me longer to prepare a meal than it does for me to eat it. This comes in handy for all those times I eat lunch at my desk (especially since I don't seem to suffer from heartburn), but it is definitely not something I want my son to inherit.…

Bed time at my house. (A little late)

For now, I'd say bedtime at our house is pretty calm. I know that will all change once Oslo arrives, though. So I'm really enjoying these last couple of months of easy nights.

We have a pretty basic routine.  This wasn't always the case.  Getting my son to bed was such a hassle until the past couple of years.  But now, finally we have a routine that he actually enjoys!

Bad mom days

If your kids are past infancy and you've never had a bad mom day, I can't be friends with you. I just can't. It will never work. You are not from this planet, and I think it's best for my kids if I don't bring extra terrestrials around.

I mean every sane person has a bad mom day.

If you're here on earth, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Sometimes it starts from the moment you wake up. Other times if creeps up on you around noon. Everything everyone is saying is…

Our Halloween Costumes

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

For many months, I was trying to come up with costume ideas for my family of 5. I had picked maybe 10 ideas which included, Batman Squad, Alice in Wonderland, 101 Dalmations, Circus, Dr. Seuss, Skeletons, and more. Ultimately, I let my daughter pick the theme and she wanted to be Cat Woman, so Batman Squad was the winner! I wanted to be "mom-like" this year and determined…

Being broke can be a blessing.

I used to make a lot of money, though  I didn't realize it at the time. That 20/20 hindsight can really burn some days.   I was doing really well for myself and for my family financially, but  I wasn't happy. I wasn't in love with my job anymore, and I tried to compensate by spending the money I was making. Writing at Starbucks, yoga, the gym, spas, masks, and spoiling my family.  When we found out we were expecting another little one, I decided I needed to make a change. I know…
