I blog about motherhood. But sometimes, my blog makes me a bad mother.
These observations came to me slowly over the course of several weeks. I've only been blogging for six months now, but my competitive drive to inflict my writing on the eyes of others, to showcase every funny story or present informative product review videos, sometimes clouds my ability to 'mom' appropriately.…Continue

At one point of my childhood, I stopped eating meat. It was a phase and didn't last too long, and my Mother just dealt with it by giving me lots of veggies. (Sorry, Mom!) When she tells this story today, she remarks that it was good timing because my brother was going through a phase of not eating vegetables and everything evened out.…Continue

For many the beginning of the Holiday season begins on Thanksgiving Day, however, for us, it *officially* begins on Thanksgiving parade day...no, not the big New York parade or even the Thanksgiving Day parade here in Philly. Every year we take Eamon to get his first glimpse of Santa Claus at the Mayfair Thanksgiving Parade in northeast Philadelphia. There are dancers, Irish bands, the all-important Mummers appearances, and, of course, Santa. It's a simple parade full of…

Over the last few months, I have had several different people ask me if I’m a photographer, as in a “professional photographer.”
That’s rather flattering because, no, I’m not. I’m a mom with a nice camera who loves to take pictures of her children, and while I have been really…Continue

My daughter loooves tea parties! She'll have tea parties with all the animals in her room, including any of her brother's toys that may have somehow gotten mixed in. Illy will throw parties for her brothers or bring me little cups of "tea" and "soup" (lukewarm water) while I'm working. She's even gotten the whole family to sit on the floor in the living room for a tea…Continue
In case you don’t know, I love taking pictures, and my favorite subject is my family. While I am always taking pictures of my boys, I generally have my camera with me at all of our family gatherings, too.
A few years ago, my side of the family began making an effort to take…Continue
As a little girl, I was a talker, a mover, and a wiggler who was constantly dancing and singing and usually loud. Since my parents couldn’t afford dance classes for me, they put me in cheerleading to help me use up some of my energy.
I cheered for six years of my childhood, up…Continue

We went to Little Tokyo in Los Angeles for lunch, because Teen wanted THE definitive ramen bowl experience. We found so much more there than just restaurants and Asian architecture. You can find our post HERE. Would love feedback from this group!

I knew that it would eventually happen. I know kids get older and that things get weird. . . . . .
at least for me. I was hoping that it wouldn't happen this soon!
What am I talking about?
One of my favorite family traditions is languishing. Dying, I tell you. Ever since my son was a baby we've dressed for Halloween as a family. Sometimes we go with a…Continue
A lot of mom posts and my posts as well.. are normally about how crazy mom life can be.
Because that is the truth, being a mom is hard.
But it is also great. I wanted to take this post with a different spin today.
I would like to tell you all the reasons why I love being a mom and all the great things it comes with.
Let's take a break from all the craziness today.
First off- a lot of you may know because I've…Continue

I said a lot of dumb things when I was in my 20s. As I am now older and (presumably) wiser, I take comfort in the fact that everyone says dumb things in their 20s. In your 20s you suffer from an optimistic idealistic attitude about...well, everything.
As I have gotten older, I have gotten wiser. Which is…

When I was a little girl we would visit my father's extended family quite often. So often, that I was confused as to who my Mother's family was for a very long time. (I would wonder: Did she not have a family? Or was her family the same as Dad's family?) It took me a long time to realize that her family lived farther away.…Continue

You come home from work and head straight into the kitchen. Within a few minutes, you are pre-heating, sauteing, chopping and seasoning. It's a Tuesday, you've put in a full day at work, and now you are cooking with purpose: You are trying to get dinner on the table before 7 pm.…Continue
Recently I attended to the parent meeting of my elder son, which was held in the kindergarten. Nursery governess invited parents, so she could introduce us with children progress during the year.…Continue

I am spoiled. For several years I worked with my husband at the same company, and now we work only a few blocks apart. This means that I am used to being able to have lunch with my wonderful husband on a frequent basis and that neither of us has to go out of our way to spend time together in the middle of the day.…Continue

While spending some time wandering on the internet, I came across this picture on Mseffie.com. At first glance, I noticed that they are using scrabble pieces and a globe to get their message across. Cute. Artsy. I really enjoy the antique effect they used to bring the picture together. However, before I could click on to another page, the message caught my attention again. Rather than the letters that spelled "Go There," I saw "Just Go Already!"
How many times have…Continue
