Like most women, I love shoes. Shoes make – or break – the outfit. Shoes are faithful. They will always fit and remain the same size no matter the size fluctuations in other areas of your wardrobe. Belts especially.
Whole fairy tales are written about shoes and endless numbers of Pinterest boards are dedicated to shoes. I know I’m not…Continue

For a man, fatherhood can be one of the most blissful events in his life. That small bundle of joy that comes into his life not only brings with it great pleasures, but also adds a whole new dimension. While mothers are initially given all the special attention, the joy and the sacrifice of a father mostly goes unnoticed. So, to pay homage to all the men who are fathers or father figures, here is a Father’s Day gift guide flush of…

We’re girls. We love the movies. We love the Academy Awards. Well, not really. We put up with them because we get to watch Hollywood glam for three (four?) hours. And, mostly, we get to do lots of backseat
Just as we did last year, we thought we’d have some fun…Continue

Many of us women miss the days when our men used to don suit & tie on a regular basis. There is something quite irresistible and sexy about the confidence they exude when they are wearing a tie. Which is why we’ll be sneaking one or two in their Christmas stockings. Our choice? Jack Franklin ties.…

Teens and tweens, are some of the hardest people to buy for. That is, unless you buy them the latest and greatest tech gadget… But wait! There are other gift ideas that do not start with the letter ‘i’.

The sad state of our economy and our increased willingness to be good to Mother Earth has motivated us to think in new ways about our wardrobes. It’s a case of less is more. It’s a little bit of a scary notion for some of us, to think that maybe only one pair of shoes and less than a dozen garment pieces and and handful of accessories would suffice, but the merits of a minimalist wardrobe need to be considered.…

I have a new craving this fall. It’s hitting me hard. I’ll need to satisfy it soon…It’s for a desert boot, with updated styling à la 2011.
FYI, the Desert Boot is now 62 years young. This enduring style with the crepe sole has many fans. My sister and I were among some of the early fans. I remember us both sporting a pair of the “originals” (but we didn’t need to call them that back then…) as little girls and feeling very cool in a tomboyish and powerful sort of way.
And now is…Continue

I have both a son and a daughter (Lucky me. One of each and I was done!). Needless to say that my daughter has always been – way – more fun to shop for than my son. Boys’ clothing is so predictable and… boring. My son has always enjoyed “clowning around” with his personal style. In his early teen years he was trying hard to discover and differentiate his own fashion style from the same-same sea of cargo shorts, board shoes and logo’d tees. Whether it was to wear a neon pink striped beanie,…Continue

We will be featuring lots of great ideas to help make Father’s Day just as special as they made your Mother’s Day (not that we are competing, but let’s face it, we know how to make that day special!)…Continue

It’s March. And just guess what the weather is like here in Chicago today? It’s raining. Buckets. Frizz day. Or…
Here’s a cool idea. A stylish, rain-resistant rain scarf. Dena Perry – bless her heart, also from Chicago, invented the Pop.N.Go rain scarf. What is it? It’s a convertible rain scarf that protects your hair…

I have been invited to a weekend away. My only fashion requirements are a bathing suit (yikes!), a bathing suit cover up (whew), a sundress for dinner out and a casual skirt for sightseeing. I pulled out all my clothing requirements with accessories and realized that I was going to need a bigger suitcase.
I resent having to pay to check luggage – and the wait to retrieve it at the carousel – and every other nickel and diming the airlines have had to resort to, especially when I’m just…Continue

Ever wanted to try that luscious emerald green eyeliner but didn’t feel like risking $18 in case it didn’t work out? Might you or someone you know be a sucker for sample makeup? If so, you’ll want to hear about…

Finally, days are getting longer and, though I hate the feeling of losing an hour, Daylight Savings time (March 13) means that there will be light when working out in the wee hours of the morning. Just enough to make those early bird workouts somewhat less painful. So, if like me, you are looking forward to hitting the pavement instead of the treadmill, we thought that you would enjoy these particular finds:…

Among many other things, this economy has thought us about buying quality over quantity. Buying things that will last past the trends and fads and that will endure triumphantly over the wear-and-tear. This is what French women have always done with their fashion and accessories choices. Their expensive but few yearly purchases are considered investments pieces: the classic designer handbag, the impeccably cut jacket and the shoes. Ah, the shoes…
If you have…

I could certainly relate to Sara Buntrock as she talked about her tween daughter when I met her this last January at a gift show. Being a mother of a tween myself (any child between the age of 7 to 12 is considered one), I know that they start having very mature tastes at a very early age (thank you Hanna Montana/Miley Cyrus and iCarly/Miranda Cosgrove).
Make-up is definitely one area that young girls love to explore. Although I do not encourage my young daughters to wear makeup, I…Continue

There was a day when designers, artists and other creatives were limited to the Zazzle and CafePress marketplaces to offer their creations on demand. But today, previously unattainable production processes have now become available for many types of designs. Technology is to…

Well, by now, I’m sure that each of us is subscribed to at least a few of the discount shopping sites à la Ideeli, Gilt, RueLaLa, etc… And then the Deal-of-the-Day sites, à la Groupon. Will we ever buy retail again?
Of course, all of these shopping platforms have been born to the Web, which has made it all possible. The latest shopping discount model? Online auctions that combine auctions with the…
