I nursed both of my boys for a year each. Now I have weaned my sweet Baby B and its a little bittersweet.
At around 10 months of age, I decided to slowly over the two month span work toward using a bottle regularly. I thought it was because of B's extreme love of nursing and cuddling, that was the reason I couldn't sleep at night anymore. Some people sleep really well with their little ones and co-sleeping is a magical bonding time. For me it meant lying awake the whole night counting…Continue
We had an amazing Dr Seuss Birthday Party for Matilda when she turned one. We decorated made a Dr Seuss Birthday Party Cake, had some fun friends over, made some Thing One and Thing two cupcakes, and had Dr Seuss Birthday Party Ballons. It was quite the day. If you want more ideas I've got a ton of them on my Dr Seuss Birthday Party Board on Pinterest or my blog post here …Continue

The first day of school is just around the corner and parents and children everywhere are preparing anxiously for their big moment. This is especially the case for children who are going to school for the first time. The thought of school with “big kids,” teachers and the vast unknown of “school” is overwhelming and downright frightening for the uninitiated. It’s equally as…Continue

I am a recovering Pinterest addict. When I first joined the site, I went on pinning rampages (winter in Utah w/ a 6 month old-- what else was I to do?). I ended up with over 3000 pins within a few months, which is maybe, kind-of, I concede, a little excessive. Now I have cut back to 20-30 pins and max 30 minutes a week, I swear, husband. But one of those lovely time-wasting afternoons was spend on Isla's first birthday party. It has to be big! It has to be cute! It has to be…Continue

Since I fell pregnant about seven months ago, I have heard and pretty much collected lots of pregnancy myths and old wives’ tales, wrapped in the form of advices, from my family, relatives and friends. They meant well by telling me all those advices but somehow I don't exactly follow or believe most of them as I understand that their claims are not medically or scientifically proven. If they were true, to some degree, my Gynae herself would have informed me those advices…Continue

My goal is to publish at least three posts a week because I want to do freelance writing for this pregnancy. Let's all have a good laugh right now (I have approx. eight posts in draft, titles only). What energy I CAN summon during the day is spent towards getting out of the house with baby girl & doing something fun, running errands, and/or/sometimes cleaning. I also have been making dinner every night. THIS IS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. And that is all I can manage.…Continue

Happy Belated Mother’s Day! As a mom, you know how hard it is to stay connected to your teen—especially if your teen has a busy online life in addition to all the activities and events they are participating in offline. I encourage parents to be involved in the online communities of their teens—especially when it comes to Facebook.
“Friending” your child on Facebook is just the first step. The next step is making sure you keep this “Friend” connection alive and…Continue

Two years ago a rogue tornado tore through my neighborhood. Eight of my neighbors' homes were completely destroyed by the violent wind and rain. The tornado came so suddenly, Dr. D. and I barely had time to get down to our basement. We huddled in a crawlspace under our stairwell as we listened to what sounded like a freight train blowing down our street. Our power,…Continue

Brewer’s first birthday is only one month away…sniffle. Once I get over the shock and wipe away the tears, I can start planning. I think I’ve been dreaming about throwing birthday parties for my own children for years. My parents always did a fabulous job of making each of there girls feel special on their big day and I plan to carry on that tradition.
