The Flower Power Entrepreneur

Do you know what I absolutely hate spending money on?

Greeting cards.

I spend tons on cards for people that may be displayed on a counter for a couple of days and then casually get tossed into the trash.  Even the "discount" cards are still around $2.99.  And let's not even discuss the dollar store cards.  Much cheaper but...scary-looking!  You know what I mean?  If you've ever seen one, we're on the same page.

But a friend of mine recently formed a business that…

I'm an avid gardener! How did that happen?

While sitting on my patio today and watching the rain I started to ask myself, why the heck am I outside? This downpour and the heat together makes perfect weather for ruining a girl's hair and I'm tired of using the flat iron when I'm kinda sorta trying to go natural...so why in the world am I watching the raindrops?

Well, I'm watching my plants…

Get Your Floppy Newborn in a Rose off Facebook, Please.

Looking through my newsfeed on facebook today freaked me out. I have just had it with the newborn pictures. It inspired a blog post rant. I hope you enjoy. Even if you have put your newborn in a rose and taken pictures, I hope you can find the humor in here!

OMG, I think blogging changed my life for the better! My best Valentine's Day!

Oh my gosh! So this Valentine's Day was the sweetest, yet simplest for me. I think my husband secretly reads my blogs, because it's been a long time since he's actually took the time to plan something...he must've read my rant, right?

Anyhoo, Valentine's Day morning as I was getting the boys ready for school, he gave me my usually kiss and whispered that he had a spa day planned for me. For a normal girl, she would've probably jumped for joy. But me being an abnormal girl just…

Signs of Spring

The snow is falling outside and all I can do is long for the Spring-like weather of last week. The weather was so mild that I donned my new shoes and went hunting for the signs of Spring in my garden.…

Valentine's Day Gift Guide - 12 Great Ideas!

Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to fall in love all over again with your significant other? As one of Michael Leunig’s quotes states, “Love one another and you will be happy; it is as simple and as difficult as that.” My husband and I say ‘I love you’ probably 20 times a day and although we mean it, we may have lost some of the passion in the words. Sometimes…

Springtime is Garden Time

The transition time between the frigid, wet winter (yes, it gets cold and wet in Southern California too!) and the heat of the summer is, by far, my favorite time of the year. Growing up on the East Coast, spring came in spits and spats with the crocus bulbs blooming through patches of snow and the first robin spotted on the front lawn that looked like it had not seen the sun for months. But once the snow was completely gone and people braved the outdoors wearing only a t-shirt (even though…

I have never claimed to be an artist, that is, drawing, painting, sculpting and so on. Though I grew up surrounded by oils, turpentine's, canvases, paint brushes, paint cans. Our house or wherever… Continue

Anniversaries: Adding that Something Special

Occasions, such anniversaries, are meant to be special. How can you add an extra touch to make that particular celebration even more memorable? Here are two options: you can go to a posh restaurants and spend 2 weeks of groceries on one meal, or you can do it at home. Dining at home doesn’t seem very special, let alone romantic, especially since you do it practically every day. But, as I recently found out, there are ways to create a unique and… Continue

How Boarding School Can Help You Parent a Troubled Teen

Parenting teens is hard enough, but parenting a troubled teen can feel impossible.
