It’s been awhile since I’ve had the chance to try any new wines, I have been searching my normal haunts (Trader Joe’s, Costco, and the Wal-Mart) and have been striking out in finding anything interesting that fits into my Middle-Class wine parameters (under ten bucks a bottle). Then, while on his own perfect brew mission, the Hubs returned from the Total Wine with something different, a Chilean Carmenere, and viola a new bottle to taste and share my thoughts on was…Continue

When I hear the word Campbell’s my mind goes back to a simpler time. A time when the biggest decision of the day was what type of cereal I should have for breakfast. When my day would consist of play and not coming home till the street light came on, when there were no iPhones, emails to check, or bills to pay. When I hear the word Campbell’s I think of childhood and warm tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches, warm cheesy chicken casseroles, etc. Campbell’s was definitely a…Continue
If you are the one bringing home the literal bread in your household then you have seen them, the bright eyed, loom band wearing, merit badge earning Girl Scouts and Brownies outside your supermarket doors selling those cookies. Those cookies, the ones that can’t help but bring back my memories of selling those rectangular boxes while wearing knee high socks and a brown smock, offering my best seven year old sales pitch to unsuspecting supermarket customers, and as you know…Continue
This past week’s wine drinking was interrupted by a very vile virus that attacked our home and took my boy and I out for most of the week. The inability to taste or smell anything for days on end kept me from uncorking and giving a new budget friendly bottle of wine a try in order to offer you a review. While wine-less and laid up under a pile of blankets and pillows, I was able to spend plenty of time perusing the web and reading blogs, which is where I stumbled upon the ingenuity of…

There is many a besotted couple that only wine on Valentines Day because of the pressure to make this day special. The rest of the three hundred and sixty-four days of the year they rely upon other sorts of spirits to provide that warm and fuzzy buzz, so when this holiday focused on Love rolls around every February, these once a year wine drinkers are left staring aimlessly at the wine aisle with no clue what wine to pair with their impending evening of…

I used to consider myself a Cabernet Sauvignon type of girl. I loved the rich red hues, bold flavors, and the security of what to expect when ordering a glass of wine when out at a restaurant, but recently my taste have changed. Now I would say that I gravitate more towards Merlot and Pinot Noirs (which is unfortunate because of the Pinot's more expensive price tag), but I find these two reds range of taste more broad, and usually more enjoyable as well.…Continue

I found this recipe on All Recipes in a last minute search for a different kind of flavor instead of my go-to ‘Parmesan Tilapia’. While I could have just posted the link and called it a day, I of course didn’t follow all of their directions and…Continue

One of the challenges I have faced in my journey to be green, healthy and fit is in the area of cooking. If you have read my posts before, you know about my aversion to cooking. It’s one of those necessary evils I suppose, even though I am what you might call “kitchen challenged”. Don’t like cooking or baking, but I can clean like a champ!
My husband is, quite fortunately for me, the kind of guy who will eat pretty much whatever I put in front of him. Even if he doesn’t like it so…Continue

Today I headed out to Jetty Island with Isabel to meet up with a mommy play group. Jetty Island is a long strip of land in the bay off the coast of Everett, WA. I've heard from a few co-workers that it was a great place to bring your kids but I never made the journey before. For one, it would have been just Izzy and I and it's not as fun without other kids to join in. Since The North shore mommy play group planned to met there it was the perfect opportunity to check it out.…Continue

Regardless, I have been searching around my house for items to either re-purpose or update. It's amazing what a difference some scrapbook paper and some paint can do to boring,…Continue

I just have to share this. Do you know those motorized rides you see at the supermarket or the mall? They look like little cars or boats that you have to pop in some quarters for them to start. They just rock back and forth and play sounds. Until today Izzy has been deathly afraid of them. Continue
