10 Year Anniversary Trip... With The Kids

My husband and I celebrated 10 years of marriage! Crazy, right?!

Well, we wanted to do something special to celebrate but our youngest was only four months and I’d be breastfeeding; so we decided spend our 10 year anniversary trip... with the kids. Not overly romantic, I know, but sometimes you gotta make the best of the situation. An all inclusive Jamaican resort was our destination of choice. We’d never been there before so it would still be special and it was all inclusive, which…

5 Ways to Enjoy Rainy Days

It’s Spring and the weather has finally started to get warmer. Bikes are dusted off and children’s laughter can be heard up and down the street. Yes, life outside the house is ready to resume... until drip, drop, drip drip, drop drop... here comes the rain. However, instead of feeling…

10 Date Ideas for Parents and Children

10 Date Ideas for Parents and Children When you first think of the word "date," it's easy to assume that it involves two individuals roughly around the same age who are in some type of romantic relationship, whether new or seasoned. While this may be true, "dates" can include kids, too. (preferably not in addition to the two individuals in a romantic relationship- that's what babysitters are for!) Special outings with just one child and…

A Collage for Daddy

lly and I wanted to do something special for Daddy, just to show him how much we love him. We sat down to brainstorm a couple ideas of what to do and finally settled on making a collage for Daddy. The collage would contain things that he really enjoys and something that describes him. Although our Daddy is one who likes to wrestle and roll around on the floor, he also really enjoys dressing up and looking nice!

Check out our finished picture and see how you can make one…

Anakena Chile Carmenere: Wine with a Wild Side

It’s been awhile since I’ve had the chance to try any new wines, I have been searching my normal haunts (Trader Joe’s, Costco, and the Wal-Mart) and have been striking out in finding anything interesting that fits into my Middle-Class wine parameters (under ten bucks a bottle). Then, while on his own perfect brew mission, the Hubs returned from the Total Wine with something different, a Chilean Carmenere, and viola a new bottle to taste and share my thoughts on was…

Wholesome, Flavorful, & Kid-friendly Meals (includes coupons & recipes!)

When I hear the word Campbell’s my mind goes back to a simpler time.  A time when the biggest decision of the day was what type of cereal I should have for breakfast. When my day would consist of play and not coming home till the street light came on, when there were no iPhones, emails to check, or bills to pay. When I hear the word Campbell’s I think of childhood and warm tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches, warm cheesy chicken casseroles, etc. Campbell’s was definitely a…

Wineducation: Girl Scout Cookies and Wine

If you are the one bringing home the literal bread in your household then you have seen them, the bright eyed, loom band wearing, merit badge earning Girl Scouts and Brownies outside your supermarket doors selling those cookies.  Those cookies, the ones that can’t help but bring back my memories of selling those rectangular boxes while wearing knee high socks and a brown smock, offering my best seven year old sales pitch to unsuspecting supermarket customers, and as you know…

Wineducation: Don't Just Drink Your Wine

This past week’s wine drinking was interrupted by a very vile virus that attacked our home and took my boy and I out for most of the week. The inability to taste or smell anything for days on end kept me from uncorking and giving a new budget friendly bottle of wine a try in order to offer you a review. While wine-less and laid up under a pile of blankets and pillows, I was able to spend plenty of time perusing the web and reading blogs, which is where I stumbled upon the ingenuity of…

Wineducation: Valentine's Wine Picks

There is many a besotted couple that only wine on Valentines Day because of the pressure to make this day special. The rest of the three hundred and sixty-four days of the year they rely upon other sorts of spirits to provide that warm and fuzzy buzz, so when this holiday focused on Love rolls around every February, these once a year wine drinkers are left staring aimlessly at the wine aisle with no clue what wine to pair with their impending evening of…

Buffalo Grove Merlot: A Wild Bet?

I used to consider myself a Cabernet Sauvignon type of girl. I loved the rich red hues, bold flavors, and the security of what to expect when ordering a glass of wine when out at a restaurant, but recently my taste have changed.  Now I would say that I gravitate more towards Merlot and Pinot Noirs (which is unfortunate because of the Pinot's more expensive price tag), but I find these two reds range of taste more broad, and usually more enjoyable as well.…

Heart Healthy, Kid Friendly Chicken Recipe

One of the challenges I have faced in my journey to be green, healthy and fit is in the area of cooking.  If you have read my posts before, you know about my aversion to cooking.  It’s one of those necessary evils I suppose, even though I am what you might call “kitchen challenged”.  Don’t like cooking or baking, but I can clean like a champ!

My husband is, quite fortunately for me, the kind of guy who will eat pretty much whatever I put in front of him.  Even if he doesn’t like it so…

Jetty Island

Today I headed out to Jetty Island with Isabel to meet up with a mommy play group.  Jetty Island is a long strip of land in the bay off the coast of Everett, WA.  I've heard from a few co-workers that it was a great place to bring your kids but I never made the journey before.  For one, it would have been just Izzy and I and it's not as fun without other kids to join in.  Since The North shore mommy play group planned to met there it was the perfect opportunity to check it out.…
