For parents: when your child doesn't have any friends

I just wanted to write a little about my daughter who was having trouble making friends at school. I know there are other parents that might be concerned about their kids and their friends...or lack there of.

My daughter is in kindergarten and as far as I knew, she was outgoing and had friends in preschool. I knew elementary school would be different and I was right. The first week of school I stalked my baby from my car after dropping her off. What? My first born was in regular… Continue

Nostalgic Yes...Ungrateful No.

I used to sit and watch my friend's kids with envy....not envy...maybe jealousy was the word. This was back in the TTC days when the Hubby

and I were trying, I was charting and taking my temperature and on a high

protein, no caffeine , no fun diet trying… Continue

Who put the Ma in Glamazon? Not me!

It’s late at night and I’m doing double duty as usual, the multi-tasker that I am. I’m in the shower bathing myself while also scrubbing the tub clean. Fun? Not. But hey, someone has to do it.

It’s as I step out of the shower and catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror…

Game on….or not.

This weekend I had the tedious chore of reconciling our latest credit card bill. Usually it’s pretty easy but this month I noticed a charge from an Internet company that wasn’t familiar. In fact, the charge description only provided an 866 phone number. So being due diligent, I called the number. Low and behold, it was a “store front” billing company and it was unable to let me know the…

Mama Friendships – Are Yours At Risk?

Maintaining friendships when you are a mama can be a tricky business. Often already juggling a hectic home life, work and children, while also trying to carve out a bit of time with Daddy-o, can leave little room for your girlfriends.

The way I see it, there are a few friendship fizzling high risk situations:

1) You become a mama: Many report that their friendships with single/childless girlfriends suffer. Mama feels…

"I Managed to Lose the Accent"

Elle started 6th grade this week…middle school. She has a new school, new bus and a different way of attending school. Rather than one classroom with one teacher and one desk, Elle has graduated to different classrooms for every subject, multiple teachers and a hall locker. This is the big time.… Continue

The Absence of Friendship

I have a lot in my life and I am very blessed. I have a man who adores me, I have two beautiful daughters, I have my health and I am truly happy. But there is one thing in my life that is missing, not exactly missing, just not something I have close by. Girlfriends.… Continue

A Cocktail of Friends and Lifetimes

Today is my 100th post! Wow! I seriously didn’t plan it this way…but I thought this was a fitting blog for my 100th. Here’s to my 200th!

A blogging friend of mine, Kami at The Fence wrote a post about mixing friends on Facebook. She said she hated mixing friends. That got me to thinking, because I love mixing friends. Not only in real life, but in my cyber life as well.

Facebook Friends

Although I began writing my latest blog on the follies with which people use Facebook and they way some of them are vindictive towards one another, my writing took a different turn, focusing more on the childhood friends I was lucky to have found and reconnected with because of Facebook.

A fellow mom-blogger, I know how busy you all are, but I would love it if you visited my site and read some of my work. I focus a lot of my writing on empowering women and the multi-faceted…

I, Being a Mother

I became the mother at the age of 20. The feeling I got is inexpressible. I was not prepared to take this responsibility. I was unemployed. My mother died when I was very young. I had to struggle a lot to earn a livelihood. It was a very struggling era of my time. I cried when I…
