Kids, NO Means NO…or Does It?

How many times have you said “NO” to your kids, yet they still keep on asking? Ummm…how about every second of every hour of every day.  Yah…in my house too!  If your answer is never, I don’t believe you!

Does this scenario sound familiar?

“Mommy can we have ice…

The Award For Greatest Goofball Goes to...

I cannot be the only one....whose child is incapable of completing any task without a healthy dose of goofball antics. My attempts to teach Sonny Boy how to judge when fooling around is okay and when it is not, has only landed him in and out of time-out (over and over again, to the point he is about to wear out the kitchen timer). To help illustrate my level of frustration at the goofing off that is plaguing my once peaceful existence, I offer you these three examples:

1. Running…

5 Things Moms Rarely Hear

I had myself a little pity party yesterday. Not 20 minutes after I put on my mommy hat (which comes after my blogger hat every morning), my husband had "suggested" (his words) that our room could use a little cleaning and my oldest daughter had not so gently reminded me that she needs a haircut.

Looking around my house as I did the piles of laundry, made lunches, combed hair and cleaned up after everyone, I had a…

Toddler Boys and Pregnant Bellies Don't Mix!

I love my son dearly. But sometimes I have to really really hold my breathe because he really really tries my patience. We all know toddler boys love to wrestle and be physically active. I get that and if this mom could do it at 5 months pregnant, I would, but now I have to teach my toddler son to be gentle around the baby bump. He's not really comprehending yet that there is a baby in there. Hunky Hubs and I talk about it and we've shown him pictures of mommy when she was pregnant with him and… Continue

What I Want for my Children

Yes. That's me on many an afternoon. Make that morning. OK, truth-be-told, it can happen at any moment. Today it was the crayon-covered rocker that did me in.

And despite the fact that children are not the behaviors they exhibit, I honestly have difficulty sorting the two when my impatient Aries-anger ignites.

Whew. Deep breath. Calm down. Re-focus. Now move forward.

Yes, having children who are ages 1, 3 and 5 can be challenging. But…

"REALLY?!?"... When Potty Training Goes Wrong

Sometimes my toddler makes me crazy! I try to look at the world through her eyes and understand what she might be thinking or how things make her feel, but sometimes all I get out of it is “REALLY?!?”. I mean I understand the developmental stage of a two year old in complex and…

Lately I've had to deal with BAD home-security & appliance customer services. I'm talking crappy work, contract negligence, un-returned phone-calls, ignored emails, blame-games & "accidentally

disconnected" phone transfers. I'm talking service that has driven me to Tourette's…

Truthful Tuesday; February 23,2009!

OK, Truthful Tuesdays....once again, we are gathered here to expunge our psyche's of all of this unnecessary bullshit that we've been

carrying with us in tortured silence and not so silent misery. No

judgment, no ramifications, just support and love from those of us who

are exactly where you are....the brink of insanity, the end of our

rope, a not so high ledge. No matter the circumstances, we are with

you. Today, I'd like to confess…

Giving up on Perfection

3bodycompare At age 41, I’m a proud mother of two fantastic kids. Married to an amazing husband and trying my best to keep fit and healthy while trying to help others do the same.

After my amazing results with P90X, I thought I was as close to perfect as I was going to get. Seeing that this was at age 40, I thought that was pretty darned good. But, life gets in the way and my… Continue

Truthful Tuesday's 2/9/10

Good morning, my lovelies! It is once again that time of the week. The

day that we can come to our safe haven and expunge all of the wreckage

of the week from our souls! Don't be afraid, we won't bite. Just take

your load and dump it here! Happy Tuesday! I'm sure tomorrow will be

So, that being said, here are my 3 (yeah its been that kind of week)

for the day; I wish so badly that my 2 year old could wipe her own

little butt. It's not that I don't like… Continue

Never expect Silence when Children are awake!

I know that it is crazy to expect to have a moment of peace and quiet

to myself. I know that there are sacrifices to be made when you have

children. I am on board with that. I was not so oblivious to think that

my life would remain unchanged. I thought there would be changes. I

knew things would never be the same, but I was not prepared for the

magnitude; the depth and breadth of it all. When they were newborn, all

my time was spend occupying their time. My life… Continue
