Rejection Never Felt So Satisfying

Like all authors seeking validation by gaining acceptance to an exclusive publishing house, I submitted "Unlikely Venture" in hopes of scoring a lucrative contract and promises of making the bestseller lists. Fortunately, like a Band-Aid being yanked from a wound, three out of the three I submitted to rejected it right away, for a variety of reasons that were kind of evasive and basically not very constructive. Part of this was my error, as I submitted to the wrong imprints with the…

Easy Steps for Law of Attraction

That moment you realize that everything is going right, all that you need or want is coming into your life right when its suppose to be. Some call this luck, coincidence, or just plan chance, but I call this synchronicity or being in the vortex. This whole week I have been focusing my attention on what I do want. Everything you can imagine has gone wrong and I just didn't let it phase me. I just allowed the Universe to do what it must in order for me to get what I need. I have been reading…

Costa Rica: New Ways to Nurture Family

I recently traveled through Costa Rica, a small Central American country where peace of mind is a natural commodity. Visiting felt like a breath of fresh air with the slow pace of living and ecological mindfulness. The country has no need for a military presence and family life is a top priority.

High unemployment in the US continues to contribute to the economic downturn. And multi-generational households increase…

You may hear me talking about ways to achieve anything you want in your life. This post can help you write an effective action plan for your business, personal life, and even a hobby!

But first you must know what it is you want. Now don't get overwhelmed, you can just focus on 3 elements: Mind, Body, and Soul and then add on more elements like relationships, finances, etc to figure out what you want. This process doesn't have to happen overnight and as you evolve and…

More or Less?

The biggest challenge and struggle in my life right now is not letting my work mess with my head.

I am working full time and although the job in itself would not be that bad, the environment and people make it the wickedest experience. Quite often I ask myself it this all worth it?

Life has evolved in such a way that it’s become a chore. Is the purpose really to spend our life laboring away, (contributing to) producing a surplus of products/services…

Hold Fast to Dreams, Pursuit of Joy - Mom. Life. Love.

Hold fast to dreams

For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field

Frozen with snow.

A poem by the great Langston Hughes.…

Why I am a Work-at-Home Mom and Blogger

This recent article on Babble Mom Crunch was most refreshing — and provided a jolly good laugh — for a work-at-home blogging mom like me. Why refreshing? Well, it’s been a beautiful albeit hard-to-define line of work! A lot of people ask me what I do for a living. Somehow, it’s been tricky to define what I do exactly, especially since a lot of people…

New Year's Resolution: How Goes Your Diet?

By Kristin Fast, Lifestyle Editor and In-House Wit-Cracker

It’s January 25, do you know where your resolution is?

Mine is happening right now as my little fingers fly (poke) over the keyboard of my hand-me-down laptop; Resolution 2012, more writing.

Only took 25 days to get crackin’.

Do you know that almost half of all Americans make a New Year’s Resolution…

Be the BEST work-at-home mom you can be in 2012

What’s a work-at-home mom got to look forward to in the new year? Isn’t life the same as last week (which was, incidentally, last year, too): We’re at home, working from the dining table (for some, in their pajamas)?

Well, if you’re a more-often-than-not-optimist like me, you’ll ring in the new year…

Fear and Beyond

Last week I called the instructor at the local Ropes Course. We were set to attend with our homeschool group in a few days, and I realized that although it may be interesting to watch the older kids climb, zip and whirl, it'd be more fun if my two oldest could participate fully.

The answer I got: The harnesses can be fit on very young children. It's more about their personal will and interest.

So, we woke early a few days later, tossed our picnic in the car, and drove as…

Didn't I Just Graduate High School Yesterday?

Today I turn 30! Its kind of weird not being twenty something. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting outside on the football field at my high school graduation listening to commencement speeches and wondering what the next ten years had to offer. What did college have to offer? Where would I go? What would I be when I grew up? I only hoped that by the age of 30 I would be well established in a career with my own family, but those things were so hard to think of at that time. I was excited… Continue

Time? What Time?!

So, I took a training on time management last Friday, and I am just now getting to post about it.  The training itself was enjoyable, and I'll tell you some of what I learned- but first - can someone please explain to me how I'm supposed to manage time that doesn't exist?

Maybe that's a bit dramatic, but it's really how I feel this week.  Too many things on my plate, all of which seem pretty important.  It stresses me out and makes me feel more disorganized than I already am.…
