Going Commando and Embracing the BRAT

These are two things I experienced with my 15-month-old son this week.

I now consider myself lucky because in all of his 15 months, he’s only

had one mild diaper rash. Last weekend, I noticed a little pink on the

inner part of his tushy. I thought to myself,…

Maria's Random Rants - The Problem With Desire

It’s a hard thing to want something, and I mean really want something, with all of your heart, and every bit of your being. So much so you can barely contain the elation in your voice when you talk about it, nor the flutter in your belly attesting to both extremes of excitement and apprehension. You find yourself struggling to keep the knot in your throat from rising just thinking about it, dreaming on it.

Yup, desire can do that to you.

Twenty years  of…

Back To School: mUm, Where Did I Put My Book?

http://crikeymum.blogspot.com/2010/08/back-to-school-now-where-did-i-put-my.html

If, like me, you are counting the days 'til Summer holidays take a hike, then you are also getting ready for the back to school madness that, somehow clings to my, almost 11, step-daughter, and probably, most children this age!

This whole back to school madness, with missed lunches, dog ate…

The Guilt Of Going Out When You're A Mom

I think every parent deserves a break. I think couples still need to make sure they get their one on one time. Tomorrow is my birthday celebration and my cousin, Kathleen will babysit Landon. He's her God son and she really enjoys her time with him. My mother in law will be taking Hannah for the night. She likes to refer to their time together as "girl's night in." We're so lucky to have such helpful people.

But I feel guilty. Every time we go out! Which is rare!

Your Baby & Your Single Friends Don't Mix

This past Sunday I had brunch with a single friend of mine. My husband

was out of town so the baby had to come along. Which, in fairness to my

friend, she had no problem with. We arranged to meet at noon at The Smith

which is one of the few places in the East Village that is large enough

to accommodate a stroller. (Especially since Mazzy's ride is the… Continue

Just East You Freakin Bananas!

On the hottest day of the summer thus far, with fires raging a few

miles away, the sky is raining soot. Since we are nearing the end of

the summer, and I have been in lock down with Thing One and Thing Two,

while trying to work in my cave of privacy, it seems we are all… Continue

Today is the official launch of Green & Clean Mom, self-hosted and on Word press. For those who have been following me, you know it has been a long time coming and a lot of work. Phew, it’s over. Be a Betty and camp in style this summer! Win a copy of Backcountry Betty!

Yo Betty, lets go camping and pack the cocktails! A review and giveaway!

Where I live, Memorial Day weekend is the kick off for camping season! Except the cost of gas is $4.20 a gallon and its freezing cold. I haven’t seen too many campers headed into this normally booming tourist town. I could be wrong though. Personally, I’m not much of a camper but that doesn’t mean I haven’t slept ina tent with gross, camp fired scented clothing and toxic bug spray fumes and the sticky… Continue
