Buying a house isn’t something they teach you about in school, it’s something you have to figure out for yourself – which is why sharing wisdom about the process can be so valuable.
There are many things to think about when you go to check out an intriguing place, and they aren’t all 100% intuitive. Knowing the right things to look for and the right questions to ask requires a little preparation up front.
For example, you might look past a messy owner’s failure to…Continue

I like a neat house. I am not the type of person who cannot sleep if the house is messy, but I will make sure to give it a thorough clean on the weekend when I can devote some real time to doing so. When my home is clean, I feel more calm and rested in it.…

My son does not like the backyard in our new house.
In our old house, there was a big backyard that was mostly flat and it was perfect for water battles and running around. In the new house, the backyard mostly consists of a hill (that will be great for sledding on), but we definitely can't have water…

Lake Havasu or Miami Beach might be the place to be when you’re in college feeling all froggie and young and single, but when it comes to planning a spring break for kindergarten age kids and younger, your focus becomes more on what you can do with the kids during the week while you take advantage of…Continue

Dear Parents I Used to Nanny For,
Twenty years, twenty pounds, and a marriage and two kids ago, I was your nanny. And I judged you. My parenting standards were based on unrealistic expectations. I knew nothing of the shit storm that is parenting. While I made bewildered mental notes about the state of your home, the behavior of your children, and your fashion choices, you were keeping actual human beings alive. I apologize.
I have seen the light. And so has Anna Lane, who…Continue

For once, our freezer is stocked. I still feel like it's not enough, but I have no room for anymore stuff, so I guess it will have to do! I've been making a few extra meals each week for the last few weeks to stock up on meals for when the baby comes. I've learned that anytime I make a casserole, to just make two of them and freeze the other one. It really doesn't take anymore time and saves me from cooking a meal on another day. It's so handy that I will continue to do it from now on to…Continue

As a working mother, I have become accustomed to being flexible and making changes. Change is constant and it is not always easy or welcomed. It could be something as simple as a sick child or something drastic like a career change and relocation. With those changes, I always have to take into…Continue

I love my house to smell good as we all probably do. I am so sensitive to fragrances though it is hard for me to find non toxic candles that do not give me a instant migraine.
I saw Old Factory…Continue

Sometimes I ask my son about the house he would like to live in one day. He tells me that he wants a big backyard with a fence to keep him safe (that's my guy!), lots of good sidewalks for riding bikes, a slide instead of a stairway (don't ask) and three rooms just for him.…Continue

A few weeks ago I posted photos on my instagram page showing how beautifully my mother in law's fruits plants have grown. She has a papaya tree, avocado tree, banana tree, mango tree and more grown. There are a few others in their beginning stages. It only took about 5 years for some of her plants to start bearing fruit and I was thinking I should've started growing plants as soon as we bought our house. By now I would have…Continue

Let’s face it. In todays’ world, kids would often rather be spending their time indoors with the assortment of electronics we’ve left at their disposal. Whether they’re watching TV, playing video games or on a smartphone or tablet, the children of this new generation spend an alarming…Continue

We all know by now that stupid situations are drawn to me like white on rice. I honestly don't seek them out. They just somehow always find me. And this probably explains why my 2012 SUV accidentally found its way into an antique auto show over this past weekend. Only me, right??!…Continue
