Halloween is probably my favorite holiday. Each year as it approaches, I find myself getting more excited, happy and more creative as Halloween crafts and costume ideas come to mind.
I also find myself getting more annoyed by people who don't understand the holiday. The topic has come up several times on different mom forums where I am a member. Over and over again I read...
"We don't celebrate Halloween because it's against our religious beliefs." or
"We don't want to…

When you become a parent, you think you know what you are getting into. Sure, there's the late night feedings, the sleeplessness, the scrapes and bruises to kiss and bandage, the endless hugs to be given. You know about all of these things.
You don't think about all of the questions you will be asked. Not by family members, not by fellow moms... by your kids. And it starts pretty much the moment they begin talking.
Over the years, I've managed to dodge some pretty…

About 3 months ago I became a stay at home mom again. I've been one before. Heck, I've been everything before- a working mom, a single mom, a single working mom, a stay at home mom, a work from home mom, a mom who took her kids to work with her; I'm pretty sure I've been in almost every angle of the stay at home mom vs. working mom debate, and even created a new angle or two from which to view it.
Bottom line: I love being a stay at home mom. I do "work" during the day while…Continue

I love kids. If I didn't love kids, I wouldn't have had any. I love my 2 kids with all my heart, but I get asked every now and then if I think I'll ever have any more kids. My answer? Hell no.
First off, Hubby and I can't have any more kids. I'll leave y'all guessing as to which one of us had some alterations done, but the bottom line is the two of us, as a couple, have procreated all that we can procreate. And I think I speak for the both of us when I say,…

I've never lived a lavish life. Even when I was at the height of tattooing, I could pull down maybe $1000 in one weekend, I'd always turn around and either stock the house with food, or buy the kids much needed clothes, or pay the bills for the entire month. I wouldn't say I'm bad with money, but I'd be lying if I said I had a savings account with even a dime in it.
So budgeting has always been a part of my life. Sometimes the budget has allowed for 'fun money', sometimes the kids…

I'm a people watcher. I always have been, and I absolutely love it. You can learn so much about people by just sitting back and watching them, how they interact, their mannerisms, etc.
In a non-stalker way, thank you. I have no restraining orders... yet.
I took the kids to the pool last night, and while they enjoyed the pool fun, I sat on the sidelines with a book and relaxed. I quickly found that the book was a decoy for the people watching that was about to go down. There…

I'm a rag mag reader. Yep, I am. I picked up one today that caught my attention because it had Kelly Clarkson and Khloe Kardashian on the front, and supposedly their weight loss secrets were on the inside.
I was curious. Don't judge me.
I read that Khloe Kardashian is claiming to be a size 6. Okay, that number seems to be very popular with celebrities when they lose weight. They all end up at a size 6, don't they? Seems to ring bells all over the place, doesn't it?…
It's that time again, Inklingers... the time where I've run through a major chain store, taking pictures of random ass things that I found there, making fun of their inventory and doing the Happy Dance in their aisles if I hit the jackpot with an amazing item. Don't y'all want to go shopping with me? Sheesh.
'You Found WHAT at the Dollar Store' was deemed my 'comeback post'. I had been MIA…

My sister told me the other day they were going to put a bell around my neck...
Like a cat...
So they always know where I am.
I took great pride in this statement.
I started with the whole 'ninja' thing (it's in just about any profile of mine you can possibly find- Twitter, Top Mommy Blogs, Facebook, everything) a few years ago, and it started…

Another year has gone by, another birthday is upon me. This time, though, today, I turn 31. Blah. Last year was the big 3-0, but it marked the beginning to a new era. This year? Just one more year into that era, so it's nothing big. Just makes me feel one year older.
Today, I wanted to share some of the things I learned in the last year of my life, the first year of my 30s:

I suffer from PMS... badly. And no, it's not what you think.
Paranoid Mom Syndrome, or PMS.
I'm quite a proud sufferer of it, thank you.
What is PMS? It's a disease that affects some mothers (the good ones, if you ask me) from the moment they find out they are pregnant, and lasts, well, forever. PMS gets worse as the children get older, and can actually…

Can someone please explain to me what 'quality time' is? I hear a lot about it, and hear that sometimes it's not the quantity of time that you spend with your kids but the quality of the time spent that is what matters most. It seriously makes me wonder what the hell 'quality time' is.
Take our recent evenings, for instance. My kids and I have found the TV show 'Sliders' on Netflix's instant watch, and we've spent the last 3…

I happened to have a day off from both of my jobs, on a Friday nonetheless, and decided it was time for some family fun. I asked the kids what they wanted to do, and my daughter comes up with going to see a movie. I sent them off to school and started researching (it's been since last Easter that I've been to a movie theater). $10 for each adult ticket, $7.50 for each child. Wtf?? Maybe if we went directly after school, matinees are any showing before 5, right? First off, no, matinees…Continue

I'm T-minus 24 hours from the biggest Christmas surprise ever for my kids. Their dad is flying in from Arizona to spend Christmas with us, and they have no idea.
Slight background needed, huh?
For those that have followed me from the beginning, you'll know this year has a been a year from hell. This time last year the kids and I were in Arizona, living with their dad, my husband of (then) 11 years, though we had been separated prior to that for 2 1/2 years. Things didn't…
Good gracious how life throws you curve balls. Around this time last year I posted Tatted Mom's List of 10 Best Gifts for a Stay at Home Mom. This year I want to carry on the tradition, but as I'm no longer a stay at home mom (damn curve balls), the list is altered somewhat. So, this year we have...

So, today I'm beaming. Someone has nominated The Inklings of Life for the eCollegeFinder Top Parenting Blog award. This honor actually comes at an amazing time in my life, because I've been thinking of going back to college in the spring to pursue a paralegal degree. Funny how life works sometimes.
In my acceptance email, they asked me for a few words of advice for their student parents. Considering I've been giving thought myself to…
