The Traveling Working Mom

This week I became the traveling, working mom. This was my first overnight trip away from Teagan and leading up to the trip I had mixed feelings, as well as during the trip.

I can honestly say I'm in the best job of my career up to this point. I love my company and my job gives me pride, energy, and excitement. I knew after Teagan was born I would need to travel at certain points in the year, but I was conflicted with how this would impact me and my family. At the…

When to Fold 'Em

Ever have one of those days where every-freaking-thing seems to go wrong?  And no matter what you try to do, it all just turns to crap?  (If you haven't, then it's safe to say that I kinda hate you, but I digress....)  Well, yesterday was one of THOSE kind of days, where if I would have looked up, I…

They Don't Call It the Red Eye for Nothin'

srredeye

If your husband tries to talk you into flying the red-eye with your kids at the end of a family vacation, don't fall for it.  He may try to reassure you that your kids will sleep on the plane, and all will be fine.  But trust me, it will be anything but fine.  And the only person who will be sleeping on the plane will be your…

The Perks of Being a Mom

It's no secret that parenting is hands-down one of THE hardest jobs on the planet.  There are days when you love it and days when you want to turn in your notice and walk right out the door.  The pay is…

#ASKAWAYFriday With Sarah at The Small Town Iowa Family

This week has flown by and I can’t believe that tomorrow is Friday.  I started participating in #ASKAWAYFriday and I have enjoyed it. I love connecting with other bloggers and learning more about them. I wanted to participate in this blog hop because I don’t always share a ton of information about myself.  I thought #ASKAWAYFriday was the perfect way for everyone to get to know me on a personal basis. For those who don’t know what #ASKAWAYFriday is, you exchange a set of 10 questions for…

Putting This Week To Bed

I cannot be the only one...who is relieved that this "holiday" week is over (and isn't afraid to say it).  Between my part time job, shuffling Sonny Boy around, and the hubby off work for two extra days this week, I am ready for it all to go back to normal.

Here are some of the highlights (I use the word highlights loosely) from this past week of vacation:

While driving Sonny Boy to and from places, in between my driving to and from places for work, I wondered…

Mr. Fix It Does Not Live Here

I cannot be the only one....whose household is not well equipped for home repairs, short of painting or hanging a picture, we are lost among the tools we have accumulated but don't use (or know how to use). Thanks to a home warranty this lack of skills for fixing a household problem usually only means waiting it out for a day or two until a repair man can stomp through our house in his work boots, avoiding all the spoken niceties the rest of us feel are necessary, and grumble their way…

The Poop and the Fan

In my house, the poop and the fan need no introduction.  They are quite familiar with each other, especially when my husband is out of town.  Because that's precisely the time that things tend to go very wrong.  And usually, it's right at bedtime -- you know, when I've had just about all the fun I can take for one…
