The new year has started off on a very busy foot for me. Although there have been a lack of posts in the recent weeks(s) thanks to a super full plate work-wise, parenting-wise, and almost three feet of snow outside, my last blog has made its way around the internet via Facebook posts… Continue

Childhood Violence – What Measures Should Be Taken?

Children are very soft at heart and the way they are being treated leaves a permanent impression on their mind. Violence in childhood plays a major role in forming the type of person he/she will become. Though violence is associated with the interaction between environment and genetics and it is really impossible to alter the DNA one born with, the way these genes are being expressed can be dominated with extra care. So, saying that an individual is born that way no…

Top Ten Reasons Why Cookie Exchanges are THE WORST!!

Now, as most of y’all know I am often called a Pollyanna thanks to my glass is half full positive outlook on life. However there is one thing in this world that quickly turns this Pollyanna into a Negative Nelly and that is a good old-fashioned cookie exchange!  Shocking, but true! I have participated in my fair share and even organized a few and let me tell you, now I understand what they mean by a labor of love. Except for in this case, unlike actual labor where you totally forget…

Cover Reveal !

I am elated to reveal the cover of my soon to be published book.  This book chronicles the hurdles I had to endure to finally achieve success as a French and Spanish teacher. I hope my story will inspire all future educators from across the globe.

I believe in order to make a change for the better in public education, school districts across the United States should make a concerted effort to hire more educators of color.   I wrote “Saying Yes To My Life’s Calling: Breakthroughs in…

One Recipe, Three Meals

One Recipe, Three Meals

My crockpot has become a dear friend over the past 6 years... Pretty much when I started having kids. Its so easy to throw all your ingredients in, cover, and the let magic happen. Whether you work outside the home or from inside the home, there's nothing better than to smell the wonderful aroma of your dinner cooking and to know that all you have to do is grab a plate and fork. Sigh. There are a plethora…

Who Invented the Tooth Fairy Anyway?

“Do ya think the tooth fairy can make it tonight? It’s been three nights already.  Just put the money in the case… “ - Stephen, age 9

The tooth fairy sucks.  She does, simply because everytime she blows off my kid, I’m left holding the bag.  Bad momma.

I replay our convo in my head, “Do ya think the tooth fairy can make it tonight?  It’s…

Packing For Tomorrow

Packing for tomorrow

Last night, the kids and I had the opportunity to pack some lunches for the West Suburban PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) organization. This non-profit agency gives emergency food and shelter to individuals and families in the West Suburban Cook County area. They operate a shelter every Tuesday night and provide lunches for the next day. There are many PADS programs available all over with some even supplying permanent housing and supportive services for their…

Families and Fighting…Is It All Bad?

stop fighting My husband and I recently got into an argument and while of course I was right, as usual, I could not just walk away.  I knew that my kids were watching but I needed to express how I was feeling at that moment and don’t regret it.

Aren’t we supposed to save our arguments when…

The Mompreneur Life: Lessons I'm learning along the way

I am an entrepreneur, not by choice originally, but an entrepreneur nonetheless. About two years ago, I found myself pregnant with baby #2, unemployed and raising a toddler. Our little angels cost money to raise, and we needed two incomes to keep life running as smoothly as we possibly…

What is Your Dangling Carrot?

I'm Not Going To Try Anymore

I’m so tired of trying. It’s a repetitive process that never moves me forward. It feels like doubt before I even leave the starting line. And that dangling carrot is always miles ahead of me. If I squint I can even see it smirking back at me. Imagine a smirking carrot. It’s not intimidating, it’s condescending. I want to sneak up behind it and bite off its root - its foundation.

But I know…

Most of the university students are using mobile device for studying, are you one of them?

Progress is inevitable. It is facts that today, most of us have phones with a greater capacity and capabilities than computers that sent the first man to the moon. Still, as in all things, it is not about what you have but how you use it that counts. Think of a typical teenage kid with a smartphone, it is true that that kid has an access to the internet, the most incredible data storage in the world, where he or she could find almost any information that they need, this is still probably not…

33 Weeks Pregnancy Vlog | Pregnant Sister, Epidurals, Second Baby | MomCave TV

t’s a cliché for a reason–life happens when you are busy making plans. I filmed this 33 weeks pregnancy vlog in a state of blissful ignorance, one day before my pre-term labor adventure began

In the video, I talk about how I’m enjoying pregnancy but have so much to do that I wouldn’t mind if this baby stayed in a couple of months past the due date. Boy, was I mistaken!

The next morning, I was rushed to…

10 Date Ideas for Parents and Children

10 Date Ideas for Parents and Children When you first think of the word "date," it's easy to assume that it involves two individuals roughly around the same age who are in some type of romantic relationship, whether new or seasoned. While this may be true, "dates" can include kids, too. (preferably not in addition to the two individuals in a romantic relationship- that's what babysitters are for!) Special outings with just one child and…
