Boy, the times have surely changed!

Yesterday, I found myself reminiscing. I was thinking about and appreciating my childhood, old friends and every experience good or bad. I remember going outside to play with my friends. We all had Nintendo and Sega Genesis systems, but those were only played when we had company come over who didn't have their own systems...or we had to be indoors. It wasn't as addictive as games seem to be now…

Dutch Laws~Four Farmer's Road Rules

Once upon a time in a faraway land

Came 4 funny Dutch farmers with a little time on their hands

They all agreed to go for coffee at ole Joe’s shop

They all left their four houses; drove down the road, then came to a stop.

They came from the four corners of their country farms,

From the north, south, east and west,

All heading to Joe’s not causing any harm.

But when they met each other on that old country road

They knew they were in a…

What Items Should I Have in my Baby’s Diaper Bag?

A diaper bag is an absolute must have when you have a baby.  In fact, there were several times when my children were very young that their diaper bag also became my purse.  I would toss my wallet and a few essential items into the diaper bag so that I would only have to carry one bag when I was out and about…

Mom’s What Type of Potty Seat Would You Choose for Your Toddler?

My baby is showing the signs that he is getting close to being ready to potty train.  A few weeks ago, he started telling when he has a soiled diaper.  He says, “I poop” when he soils his diaper.  He hasn’t quite figured out the difference between urinating and pooping.  I am excited and nervous at the same…

Fall in Love with Your Job Because Paychecks are Nice

Each workday, people all over America wake up, shower, dress and go off to work. Many of those people are not happy about having to go to work each day. Some of them even curse the fact that they must go to work. I am proposing that instead of hate, those people start looking at their jobs with a loving attitude.  Think about it. When a person is in love, the person is kind, considerate and speaks with a kind voice. When a person is in love, she does not insult the object of her love. A…

Rascal is Caught Eating Cookies and Drinking Syrup in the Pantry

After sipping on coffee and eating cinnamon rolls yesterday, I figured that Rascal had enough sugar in his body to last for a few days.  Last night he was bouncing off the walls and running around the house after the kids went to bed.  I figured that I would find him passed out somewhere when we woke up this morning.  But no!  Rascal had other plans.

I Caught Rascal Hiding in my Plant Sending Text Messages

Rascal had to be rescued from the dog kennel yesterday while I went to run a few errands.  The dog was giving him the evil eye yesterday for being in her kennel and I didn’t want her to take revenge on him.  So I placed him on the fireplace mantel so that he was safe and out of harms way.

Rascal Got Locked in Doggy Jail

Rascal is a sneaky little Elf, he took off to the North Pole early last night.  He wanted to go back early so that he could visit Rudolf.  While sneaking, back into the house last night he found himself locked himself in the dog’s kennel.  I found him this morning, he looked so sad and scared while trying to get our attention to let him out of the kennel.  When I took a closer look I found the dog’s bone in his mouth and a sign attached to the kennel door asking for…

Are You Sure it's not Contagious?

Are You Sure it's not Contagious?

I'm in a much better mood today than I was yesterday.  Eric got a chance to Facebook me before class and said that he *did* in fact try to wake me to get me to come to bed.  I'm not sure if I believe him, but at least he was feeling bad about it.  When he got home we relaxed…

Indecision

It's an interesting time for the local real estate market in Hampton Roads, VA.  I track the local economic factors for trends in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk.  What I have found is that we are in a transitional time where it is neither a buyers market nor a sellers market.  However, buyers think it's a buyers market and sellers expect full price offers. The result is indecision.  Buyers are afraid to pay too much and sellers want to wait it out for better offers.

The great…

There's No Crying in Baseball, But in Pre-K and Kindergarten.........

Remember the movie, “A League of Their Own” when Tom Hanks delivered that memorable line: “There’s no crying in baseball.” Of course, those angry words were uttered as he berated one of his players severely who then began to cry. I might be crying too after a tongue lashing like that.

But, when children are three, four and five years old, it’s not surprising or…
